Breaking Bones
Summer break before third grade. Hanging upside down on a wet swingset, I slipped, fell and broke my arm. Doctor's did surgery and suggested I learn cursive writing with my left: my right would grow no more. Then prayer changed things.
Good thing Doctors aren't always 100% correct. A friend had a horrible car accident and was told she could never walk on her own again.
She lived with my Wife and I for the better part of a year, we installed a ramp onto our house and everything so she could get out of the "rehab facility" which was not geared towards younger people. She hit a point and her walking was good enough to go home (only bathroom was on the second floor) and from there she has had a full recovery. They also said no natural childbirth, which 2 kids later was proven completely wrong too.
Doctors do what they can based on their knowledge and they tell you what they believe is the most likely outcome. Sometimes with hard work and belief you can have much better outcomes then the fate a Doctor prescribed.

What you wrote is true. When all else is lost. We can humble ourselves and pray.
My thinking is that the Supreme Being hears us when we reach out in faith.
