#ZapFic contest - Be Wary of Substitutes
This is an entry into @felt.buzz's ZapFic contest. You are challenged to write a story with 240 characters with today's prompt being "exception".

I followed the spell, with one tiny exception. I had to use bat blood instead of wings. Similar properties, so it should have worked.
I poured the elixir in the mouth of the excavated corpse.
The corpse exploded, chunks of flesh on fire!
