YouTube has been on a spree of taking down videos. The target is conservative posters. In response to the outcry, Youtube blamed it on the newer members of the 10,000 person fleet of content moderators.

YouTube went on a hiring frenzy in December in an effort to combat "fake news" after Hillary Clinton's loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election.

Some of the banned accounts include:

Anti-School, Bombard's Body Language, Charlton, Charles Walton, Defango, Dustin Nemos, David Seaman, Destroying The Illusion, Ron Johnson, Richie Allen, and Titus Frost.

Those who were issued strikes, partial bans, or temporary suspensions include According to Joe, Blackstone Intelligence, BakedAlaska, InfoWars, Jerome Corsi, Military Arms Channel, and MrLTavern, among many others. -The Outline

Considering the political make up of the Google staff, it is likely this is not a mistake. Many believe this is a new fleet of "morality police", designed to silence a vast segment of the population.

Adding to the speculation is the fact that Google enlisted the help of the ultra left-wing Southern Poverty League to act as a "trusted flagger".

The Washington Examiner's Emily Jashinsky [noted][30] last year that "the SPLC's claim to objectivity is nothing less than fraudulent, a reality that informed observers of its practices from both the Left and Right accept."

"The routine of debunking their supposedly objective classifications occurs like clockwork each time a major outlet makes the mistake of turning to them when reporting on the many conservative thinkers and nonprofits the group absurdly designates as hateful." -DC

YouTube defended itself by stating that the flagging is only for content review.

“We work with over 100 organizations as part of our Trusted Flagger program and we value the expertise these organizations bring to flagging content for review. All trusted flaggers attend a YouTube training to learn about our policies and enforcement processes. Videos flagged by trusted flaggers are reviewed by YouTube content moderators according to YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Content flagged by trusted flaggers is not automatically removed or subject to any differential policies than content flagged from other users,” said a YouTube spokesperson.

Another "trusted flagger" is the ADL which is known for calling out conservatives while not applying the same standards against liberals with their anti-semitism.

YouTube also is under fire for the treatment of the David Hogg situation. Gun advocates were censored since the event at the Parkland school a couple weeks back. There are accusation that Hogg is a crisis actor, a point fueled by a video of Hogg and a lifeguard a year ago that ended up going viral before YouTube took it down.

After the lifeguard scuffle briefly became YouTube's No. 1 trending video, it was removed under their harassment and bullying policy and apologized for helping to fuel the "crisis actor" theory.

YouTube's official policy states that "harmful or dangerous" and "hateful" content may violate its guidelines - and if video creators receive three strikes for violating the rules within three months, YouTube will terminate the account.

Honestly, it's a little crazy what is going on over at YouTube. I don't think that it will completely cripple the platform, but it's obviously not good. Hopefully this means more room for platforms like Dtube to flourish in the wreckage.

It will take a lot to cripple that....

The following that it has is enormous. There are teens who only watch videos on there. It is their cable television.

In the meantime, if the sign up process gets straightened out, D.Tube can attract a ton of disgruntled people from YouTube.

It needs to give creators more incentive for not only trying out D.Tube, but also stay there. Otherwise, it will be a repeat of Vidme.

It is not as easy at it sounds. Vidme was an example of an alternative platform that flourished rapidly after the adpocalypse, but closed down despite its initial popularity because it couldn't attract advertisers.

I don't know that much about dtube but as far as I am aware they have much lower hosting costs than youtube because dtube uses the blockchain so dtube doesn't need advertisers if the steem rewards they deduct are enough to cover the lowered hosting costs. So even if dtube will most probably not take over youtube it could not end up like vidme.

These are a lot of accounts youtube has banned, and a lot of issued strikes, partial bans, or temporary suspensions. I don't think this is the right way for youtube to handle content that it doesn't like. Much as they are protecting their image, they are doing damage to the huge number of users that use youtube. The content produced by many of these accounts is huge and attracts a lot of users. Are these trusted flaggers even kept in check and kept from abusing the system.. We are likely to see many false flags here. Good content could get flagged simply because the flagger has personal issues with the creator of the content.
Well this is good for dtube. Many of these users are welcome to dtube where they can freely express themselves. And even get paid for worth their input. Unlike youtube where users always have to look upto ads to make good returns. Which of recent has seen many content creators quitting the platform for not valuing the investment they incur into youtube with content that attracts users.

Anything can thrive simply for motivating people into participating. A decade ago, forums were bursting with traffic without rewarding the posters with more than meaningless likes. Those likes were still enough of a dopamine fix for most to feel nice. After other platforms were paying actual money for content, forums quickly died out.

I was one of the channelers who got shut down for controversial material, when all I was doing was exposing lies and fallacies. PC is the death of free speech.

I hope there are thousands more like you lining up to join the STEEM blockchain, a place where your non-PC voice can be heard.

Bring all your followers along with you...they need to be on here too. 😁

Most of my followers are from my YT channel, actually. Very few bother to produce content, though.

Every day it gets better for Steemit blockchain, especially for DTube, in this last days there have been a lot of dark news about Youtube, which means we might see a growth in the numbers of posts and accounts on DTube.

Personally I think Youtube is literally digging its own grave. And in the meanwhile DTube is being born and soon getting mass adoption from ex-youtubers.

It sounds like D.Tube has a target market emerging.

I can say that we want to attract all points of view to the STEEM blockchain, not just one political viewpoint. However, if one particular group is being censored by the mainstream (which YT is), then by all means bring them on here.

With each passing day I am starting to beat the decentralized drum. Censorship is something we need to fight hard to protect against. We need to make sure STEEM embraces the right for all to post their point of view.

This will go a long way to separating this blockchain from the centralized mechanisms that are in place.

Of course, if people start moving over in droves, the attack dogs will come out. The MSM isnt going to sit back while D.Tube and other apps allow people to speak their mind.

"if people start moving over in droves"

... there better be an easier way to spend or cash in crypto by then, or it will be a repeat of Vidme.

This YouTube Censoring was done with Purpose, notice no extreme Leftist channels that openly call for the illegal immigration of people (against the law) were shutdown, it was only "right" leaning channels. Youtube is so full of The only reason that they backed off was because there was push back and law suits filed. They moved too soon. Sorry but if you haven't violated copy rights or called for violence to be done to someone or a particular group and your channel is taken down then its purely politically motivated. We either have free speech or we don't.

This is totally nonsense. I'm already good at one direction and I'm starting to use less. Now I can completely quit. They also opened the way for emerging platforms like Dtube. I hope the YouTube hegemony is finally over. We have this taboo. Thanks information and sharing @zer0hedge

When @YouTube @Google @Twitter @facebook try to shut down accounts that speak truth the conservative truth to power it doesn't drive more people to MSM its drives them to the ever growing community of outcasts they've created. This is fascism. I mean, can the water company cut off your water because they don t like your views? Wake up America. Our accounts may be next. We live in a fascist country. Look up the definition in the dictionary. They are a private lawless conglomerate of millions of dollars backing them. You can easily compare it to conservatives and conservatism being David compared to an army of liberal giants. Let me ask a question: Is google and YouTube really a private company when taxpayer money was used to start it? As a matter of fact it was started by the government especially by CIA who continues to provide it with funding. The time is nearing that we band together and ride out to meet destiny head on. Let’s move to DTUBE, as long as there are no f.....g whales disturbing and flagging everyone they don’t like, DTUBE will be just fine.

The problem with your way of thinking is that it doesn't sustain a platform. Yutube has a negative income for many years, since it can't keep up with the ever growing amount of data it needs to maintain (that means the upkeep keeps getting higher). At the same time, the sponsors are displeased for the content many produce which hurts their products instead of boosting the sales, so they were right to pull away when they saw it had the opposite effect from the one they expected.

Meaning, freedom of speech without any restrictions on Youtube would have killed the platform, and instead of censorship we would have nothing. That is what happened with Vidme.

This is good news for dtube and steem I suppose. The land of the free they said. USA is an extremely supressed country, internet censorship should be allowed only for extreme cases and very rarely. Thanks for sharing, lets see what happens.

If it was still a country, there might be a chance of what it proclaims to be.

Since it is run by corporations, the US no longer has any resemblance to what it was created as.

The government and the media are just arms for the banksters. They do their bidding.

I think byhere is a problem with YouTube. There is no more freedom and the will to post something bon their channel. Why should I post something and some organisations have to approve on the content. YouTube just wish to see the different content they desire and can not even leave a new alarming but reliable information.

This may lead them into their end of time. I believe in few days Dtube will take over and people will be excited to start experiencing a new trend without the social media platforms.

We are meant to learn, criticise and evaluate everything we see. It's not YouTube's role to do on our behalf.
