FINALLY It Happened (YouTube Monetized)

If you guys have been following my struggle for the last 8 months of trying to get my crypto channel monetized you will know that even after you get past the required subscriber counts and amount of hours watched you aren't guaranteed to get monetized. It has to go through manual approval and YouTube is backed up for months on these channels getting approval.

It was a pretty frustrating process and in a lot of respects I thought it was going to be like getting my other channels approved which I had easily done in the past. I had pretty much lost all hope with this channel and it really caused me to produce way less content than I would have. I wasn't getting upvotes on most my content from DLive and DTube either so it oftentimes was better to just embed the YouTube video in a Busy.org post. That was my best path to success with upvotes.

I haven't posted any new videos since the channel got monetized so I haven't been able to hit a view rush since it has been active so I have only made $0.26 in the last day or so from what it is saying. I estimate that I lost several thousand dollars if it would have been monetized this entire time though.

Should You Try To Build A YouTube Channel?

This is a super tough question to answer because even if your channel topic has the amount of viewership to get a lot of views and subscribers there is no guarantee that you are going to get monetized as expected. It certainly is a moving target and the way I'm looking at that channel is as just one piece of my content creation business. If I can get it up to where I'm earning over $5,000 / directly from the ad revenue in the future I would be happy with that. I have done the math on other channels viewership and I feel that is possible if I step up my game and pump content hard and we hit the next crypto boom cycle.

I would say if you are just starting out and just created a channel it is going to be a very tough uphill battle to get everything approved like this. They moved the criteria up on us once while I was trying to get this approved and even though I was past the new mark it still took several more months to get it through even with having other channels monetized and being a verified partner since 2012 and never having any copywrite strikes against any of my channels.

This does open up another stream of income and I can sort of focus on the overall goal more at this time.

Personally the ad revenue model isn't the end all be all. I see a Ad Revenue + Crypto payment system being a step toward the right balance with a content platform personally.

Have a fun and safe 4th of July to everyone!

That is pretty funny. I just got monetized on youtube as well. I qualified back in November of 2017 and they kept giving me excuses why they couldn't get it done. I am up to $4.00 right now on ad rev. LOL

I'm glad to hear you got monetized as well. I'm almost starting to think they said screw it and decided to let us all in who had qualified as far as the criteria. I feel like someone decided the whole manual process was taking too long and everyone was just getting more pissed off.

Congrats keep going! Having a long breath is a key factor for success!

Thank you for the support!

Congratulations on surviving the Google gauntlet.

I determined that Youtube is too big of a gamble. There is a huge number of creators with great content who've failed to get subscribers.

It seems to me that even if one spent the effort to get subscribers, there is nothing to prevent Google from changing its ToS or algorithms in ways that would demonetize or undermine one's efforts.

The only reason I would use Youtube at this point would be for free video hosting as they creators to embed videos on their personal sites.

While this is true it's really no different than any other third party platform.

Why should I spend time on Steemit because BernieSanders or Cheetah could not like something I say and make sure I can't earn anything?

Why should I create an ebay account because eBay could ban me?

Why should I setup an Amazon account to sell because they could ban me?

Anytime your in bed with a third party platform this is a risk. this is why you never want to have all your eggs in one basket and this is why you always use these platforms and don't allow yourself to be used by them. If you start a youtube channel start using it to drive people to other social profiles or even better a website or blog you own and control. This is why I tell people never start an amazon fba business. You can start a business that uses amazon fba as a sales channel but never start a business solely that relies on amazon.

If your creating content for Steemit there's almost no downside to also cross posting that content on Youtube. If it winds up taking off you have another revenue strema and another audience, if it doesn't you've invested a very minimal amount of time ie just as long as i takes you to upload content you were already creating anyways.

I agree completely with what you say.

I advocate that content creators start by creating their own web sites. Once you have a site, you can usually get ads from affiliate networks.

Content creator should use the social media sites to build traffic to their site.

If you have a site, you should stop being link stingy and put links to other independent sites that you support.

As for youtube; you can embed their videos on your web site and monetize the views that come through your site with your personal ads.

People are foolish to invest too much into any single social media site.

It certainly is a precarious situation out there right now. And one of the main reasons that Blockchain actually solves a problem. True account and funds ownership on something like the STEEM blockchain. Where as like you said with YouTube they can change the terms and then you are kicked out or that income stream is shut off like a light.

I went and found one of your videos and liked it.
Your welcome :-p

and congratulations.

Hahhah, It is kind of funny sometimes when I will see a Steemian out there commenting on a video about crypto currencies. I know that sounds funny but sometimes I don't expect to see them out there and it is sort of a surprise.

That's great to see well done

Thanks man. I know we have been both going through the process for a long time. It isn't fun to wait and now know what is going to happen.

Bruh, I'm surprised you got monetized, your view numbers are weak... just don't expect to get paid much okay. In fact, I think you are going to be very disappointed when you see how much you actually get.

You could easily make way more using Steemit, DTube (when it works), and DLive.

Pssshh, Don't tell me what to expect. I have been dunking since you were in diapers. I have been pushing traffic from YouTube since 2008. I have more than just that channel.

Are we both looking at the same channel?

No you aren't looking at the same channel. That channel was first created in 2016 just to embed a few videos here and there on Steemit. I never really did anything much with that channel until November 2017 where I made a push and got past the criteria on it but then I wasn't getting monetized so it didn't make sense to push it real hard on there. Like I said I have other channels.

Tolkatore, always speaking the truth :D

@Tolkatore is just a shit talking McBitch that I would dunk all over

Congrats, now you are a pro youtuber.. Do not expect a lambo :p

Well I already had some other channels that were monetized so this channel will add to that. And no, unfortunately I can't hope for a video unless I really get crazy rich in crypto and then I'm able to do a vlog style format for some rich supercar life style or something. Hahha

Crypto revolution strikes again! Congrats, bro!!

Yeah hopefully now I won't be so disgruntled about the situation over there and I can have that other stream coming in.

Well, I'm very glad it's worked out for you, but I still (like every good Steemian) want to see Dtube over take them and steal their lunch.

Yeah the competition will be good if DTube and other things like it can do great then YouTube will keep on their toes.

Right, and hopefully stop their horrible one-sided discrimination.

Don't count on it. YouTube just got added to one of the Bitconnect civil lawsuits so I won't be surprised if they demonetize everyone talking about crypto. Watch me build up some money and then they will take it and delete my channel.

Yes sir, the new rules of you tube actually forcing the creators to adopt new platforms.... Of you will look at some analysis then daily motion is getting many new creators everyday....I ll not surprised to see if one day some other platform will take place of YouTube....

Any such platform should always respect and reward the creators...

Am happy with steemit and dtube

Thanking you
