RE: YouTube Goes On Rampage Against Conservative Accounts; Blames "Newer Members" Of Mod Team

in #youtube6 years ago

Honestly, it's a little crazy what is going on over at YouTube. I don't think that it will completely cripple the platform, but it's obviously not good. Hopefully this means more room for platforms like Dtube to flourish in the wreckage.

Sort:

It will take a lot to cripple that....

The following that it has is enormous. There are teens who only watch videos on there. It is their cable television.

In the meantime, if the sign up process gets straightened out, D.Tube can attract a ton of disgruntled people from YouTube.

It needs to give creators more incentive for not only trying out D.Tube, but also stay there. Otherwise, it will be a repeat of Vidme.

It is not as easy at it sounds. Vidme was an example of an alternative platform that flourished rapidly after the adpocalypse, but closed down despite its initial popularity because it couldn't attract advertisers.

I don't know that much about dtube but as far as I am aware they have much lower hosting costs than youtube because dtube uses the blockchain so dtube doesn't need advertisers if the steem rewards they deduct are enough to cover the lowered hosting costs. So even if dtube will most probably not take over youtube it could not end up like vidme.
