Freedom Dividend Makes Waves

What could you do with a thousand dollars a month? Depending on whatever your choices are, chances are that those choices will either be significant and/or beneficial. If you're in tune with the happenings around the world, politics in particular, then the idea of the Universal Basic Income commonly associated with discussions involving Andrew Yang, a United State Presidential candidate will not be new to you. For the benefit of those who don't know Andrew Yang, he's a Lawyer who made millions in dollars being an entrepreneur and won't mind giving it all away to fulfill his humanitarian desires, and yeah he's running for the President of the U.S.

This ideology of a proposed policy involving a universal basic income for American citizens garnered a lot of attention in such a short time, like wild fire and quite interestingly, Andrew Yang will not be the first American presidential candidate to prop up such policies, we've seen such mentions of such implementation from past presidential candidates like Martin L. King, Richard Nixon, even Hilary Clinton but we didn't see it happen. So what makes Andrew Yang's any different, is a question many ask. It is easy for people to warm up quickly to the idea of free money especially in the light of the present system that seeks to drain people. Will it ever be brought to life? How sustainable will it be long term?

Futuristic

Two reasons I think this newly proposed system will work is the motive behind it and the level of technological advancement we're presently at. It is more evident than ever that in the next decade more people will be out of jobs due to implementation of automation and artificial intelligence as is already gradually taking place. This is something that needs to be addressed and as usual no one presently in power gives a shit. I often wonder, what will people rather have themselves doing if they didn't have to work for money, work for passion maybe?

Steem Blockchain

How feasible will this proposal be?
Financially, it will cost the U.S Government trillions of dollars to be able to serve every American citizen a thousand dollars monthly every year, same trillions that go into warfare annually, so is the idea so farfetched?
Technologically, the world has reached the level of technological advancement to be able to cater to such development with adequate transparency, immutability, trustlessness, security, freedom and high transaction speed, through the Steem Blockchain, the 3 year old revolution that has successfully distributed over 100million dollars to its users since its inception. How difficult could it be to implement such tool in achieving the UBI goal?

Communities

Another highlight worth mentioning is the discussion I came about during one of Andrew Yangs debate talking about implementing communities that are necessary to help cater to people's mental needs. He used the analogy of the Story of Christian Picciolini who was caught up in a hate group all because they were the only community available to him when he was young. He also spoke about gun control and how communities can help mitigate the outburst of gun crimes in America especially amongst children. I see "communities" on Steemit filling this void, variety of people with similar beliefs and/or interest coming together to share feelings and rewards, I can Imagine Andrew Yang heading several communities on Steemit, making a huge difference in people's lives.

Best Fit

Due to these few highlighted points coupled with the fact that he's crypto friendly and privacy conscious, I think Andrew Yang will be a fine fit for the United States President and a Steemian. A lot of his solutions and policies are tech oriented. Quite unfortunately though, he's been sidelined by mainstream media because of his flair for calling out bullshit! Where else could he find a censorship free media outlet that is data conscious and can impact people globally through rewards if not on Steem?

Andrew Yang is pro marijuana!

That makes him my guy! I hope he wins the elections, and comes to Steem, it will be truly widely ecstatic!
