You Know You're a Writer When...
People ask you what you do for a living and this is your response
You fear this will happen once your writing goes public
You hope this is what happens once your writing goes public
You’re the acceptable kind of schizophrenic. Those aren’t voices in your head. They are your characters.
The moment you are about to drift to sleep, million dollar plot ideas come to you.
You are addicted to correcting other people’s grammar.
You can’t help but notice other authors’ skills, or lack of them.
And no matter how skilled you get, spell check is there to humble you.
You were this kid. Let’s face it. You’re still this kid.
You understand the difference between an e-book and the real thing.
This sums up your social life. The one outside of the Internet.
You nearly have a panic attack when deciding whether or not to share what you’ve written with your critique group. Every time.
You find yourself narrating other people’s lives.
No one really gets you.
You’re not an eavesdropper, until you hear drama similar to your character’s.
You’re paranoid when someone asks you what you’re working on. Especially if they want to read it.
People keep asking you to put them in your book as the main character.
This is the reality that hits once your book is finally finished, out of your hands, and on sale . . . and you can’t edit it anymore.
You’ve given your soul to the world of social media and yet it will never be enough.
You get a little pushy trying to get followers.
Losing a follower ruins your week.
You are on the brink of insanity and writing is your only way out.
You couldn’t stop writing if you tried.
Many of this I totally agree, but this one:
That doesn't ruin my week, in fact... I think that is good because I can filter my public better.
