FUENTE

Sitting on a bench in Miranda Square, they watched without seeing the teenagers in bizarre costumes who did tricks with their skateboards in front of the statue of the hero. A little further on there is another group that is a bit more noisy. Tattooed skins, predominance of black in the clothes, hair with reflections in fuchsia, electric blue, green, vermilion. Suddenly rhythmic movements according to break dance music that liked some and tormented others.

-There is something that does not fit into this story, Valeria.

  • Tell me

The lady almost whispered as she carefully checked her own image of the compact mirror that the strong and sudden breeze had not put her hair out of place.

-If they follow you it is because in "our clandestine world" as you call it, it is very well known about the existence of the necklace and its implications. So why do they go in your search instead of something simple like changing passwords, for example?

-It tooks a long time to you to ask about that, Brooks. Changing the keys was the first thing that was done in the whole world as soon as it was known about the existence of the necklace. But ... the genius that created the necklace was not someone who simply stole some passwords and that's it. He invented a unique tracking system in the world that takes the GPS in the chins.

She smiled at the vulgar phrase that took on his lips refined connotations.

-So - Valeria continued - like you can not change your IP address and even if you move your PC from one site to another can always be tracked and found, well, that genius of systems engineering invented a pareo system by means of which if you have the key of a system you are ... linked to that system so that even if they change passwords then it will be easy for you to access it easily for something as a kind of ... cybernetic osmosis to say it somehow. I do not master the technical vocabulary. They will be able to change the keys thousands of times ... the same we will access linked with the original key that we took but once a key has been changed by us ... no one else will be able to access it. What do you think about that?

-Amazing.

-Amazing but true. Okay, Brooks, it's time we said goodbye.

She stood up, stared at him and then with mischievous smile added:

-By the way, do you remember my three options on what to do with the necklace? I chose the most lucrative one. The amount that Hassan El-Yeber will pay me exceeds, and by far, the highest figure you can see on your scientific calculator ... if you have one.

-Valeria! Are you crazy? That Hassan El-Yeber is a dangerous fanatic!

-He is the richest man in the world, president of the most impoverished country in the world and who will now become the most powerful. But do not worry, everything will be fine. You do not know him. Many of the atrocities that are told about him are only lies on the part of the press or invention of his detractors.

-If Hassan El-Yeber takes control of all the nuclear plants in the world ...

-Will he provoke a nuclear war? Ha, ha, ha, quite the opposite, Brooks. Understand ... if he is the owner of everything Against whom would he fight? Against himself? The risk of a war is based on the fact that nuclear weapons are in the power of countries that are enemies of each other and that at any moment end up activating their weapons against each other, but in this way world peace (at least at that level) is guaranteed. Someday you will recognize the great value of what I do for the good of the world, maybe I win my Nobel Peace Prize for this.

-Hassan will want to have the world kneeling before him

-And he will ... but beyond that it will not happen.

-Except ... the backwardness and obscurantism of his country will spread throughout the world. He will want to impose his ideas, customs and religiosity all over the world.

-All over the world, ha ha ha, do not be melodramatic, Brooks.

A black car stopped on the right side of the square. Valeria said goodbye to the astonished Brooks with a light kiss to the breeze very close to her left cheek and went lightly to the vehicle.
Suddenly an orange jeep turned the corner in a dizzying way, grinding his tires against the pavement. Valeria jumped into the black car that immediately rushed like a fireball down the main street of The Dam in the direction of Toquito. Burning rubbish - literally - the black car reached the tank that once supplied the vital thirsty population and found Brooks there

-How did you get here?

-That does not matter, Valeria, give up your attitude. Hassan is the richest man in the world but also the most cruel. Destroy the necklace now and all its dangerousness and ...

-Too late, Brooks, the helicopter is arriving and will take me to the Humboldt Hotel . Our friend Hassan waits for me there to receive the necklace in his own hands.

Brooks gave a push to Valeria who fell to the ground dodging both the barrage of projectiles that a sniper fired at them. The sound of the blades of a helicopter attracted their attention as they rolled on the ground and protected themselves behind the water tank.
For three long minutes there was a fierce exchange of shots between the crew of the black car, the yellow jeep and the helicopter (Not forgetting the sniper).
Very soon the silence was the only frame to the noise of the helicopter's engine while the death was busy between a vehicle and another trapping the souls that escaped from the bodies without life.

The helicopter touched ground and Valeria ran towards it while shouting:

-Goodbye, Brooks!

-Goodbye, Valeria - and there was great sadness in her voice.

When he saw the helicopter climb again, he repeated painfully:

-Goodbye, Valeria, goodbye forever.

And he looked at his watch-chronometer. Seventeen seconds later, the helicopter exploded into a thousand pieces as a result of the time bomb that Brooks placed in Valeria's wallet, barely saving her life by pushing her away from the line of fire.

When the noise of the explosion was extinguished the air was mined of bright micro particles that reflected the sunlight creating tiny rainbows and a fine rain formed by the pulverized diamonds fell little by little to earth sealing the end of the mystery of the diamond necklace .
