The Mahabharata - An Indian Mythological Epic

in #writing7 years ago (edited)

It's one of the greatest untold stories of all time.

I work with an animation company called Graphic India that creates original Indian Superheroes and graphic novels around Indian Mythological epics. One of my personal favourites is a project called 18 Days, which is based on of the greatest Indian epics - The Mahabharata, an incredible story about conflict between two warring factions of brothers, a story sprawling generations, and culminating in the epoch ending Battle Of Kurukshetra. It's got something for everyone - philosophy, action, battle tactics, romance, family drama, gods, demons and ancient weapons. It dates back to 400 BCE, was initially composed as a poem, and is said to be the longest epic poem ever written! For perspective, its length is about 10 times that of Illiad's Homer and Odyssey combined. Truly one of the most significant mythological works of human history.

The scale of this story is massive, and several times bigger than something like Game of Thrones. I am hopeful that we will be able to bring it to a global audience soon as a big film or streaming series. 18 Days was adapted for the Graphic Novel format by legendary comic book writer Grant Morrison, and the artwork is by Mukesh Singh. Sharing some artwork from a special edition of the book below. Hope you guys like it!

yup...looks pretty awesome.
I've often wondered about the 'history before history'.
Good luck and I hope to see more of it.

Thanks Everitt! We have several properties of this scale in active development and are hopeful of taking them to a global audience soon :) You could follow us on Instagram for regular updates: https://www.instagram.com/graphicindia/

update here on Steemit?
perhaps post 'teasers'?

We created a motion comic series based on this story, with a simpler, more "comic-book" art style. It's a fun watch. I think you would enjoy it.
