“H” – Vocab-ability – A More Powerful Vocabulary (This post includes all “H” entries)

in #writing6 years ago

This post comprises all the “H” entries of the Vocab-ability series. It includes many English words whose etymology can be traced to Greek and Latin roots.

If you learn one root, you can learn, understand, and use each and every English word derived from that root. Vocab-ability is an easy-to use resource guide to help you understand those roots.

In total, this Vocab-ability post features 8 entries that begin with the letter “H."

Excellent ..we all need to know these vocabulary .. it's very interesting . It will definitely help my students to increase their knowledge ..thanks for sharing..
Resteemed.

That's so good to hear. This Vocab-ability was originally geared to ESL students, but it's great for anyone who wants to speak better English. Damn, it even helped me, and I learned much of the content as I was compiling the original book.

Thanks for the resteem. Also, if you know of any other non-Steemians who might benefit from this or enjoy it, please pass on the links or print it out for them.

Cheers, and Full Steem Ahead.

Haha.. it will even help me to improve mine. I will definitely share these with my friends..
Will wait to learn some more..
Have a great time ahead.

@majes.tytyty,

Hope you and yours are well and loving life today.

RE: Your Post

Your submission produced this muse:

"When you know a word's pedigree, you can linguistically roll the dice more often - and actually be understood." - JaiChai (4 Dec 2017).

Imagine that?

Upvoted and continuing to follow.

Namaste,

JaiChai

I like that. All's well here, and I'm enjoying the community and all the interesting posts it's offering up.
Hope all is well on your end, too.

Peace.

The H is also a letter I already knew/guessed most of its Vocalabilty... Still I was surprised that Hypo meant "under"... I wish I become hyperactive on commenting on steemit.... Didn't thought that habit meant live... that means the actual word habit means "something you can't live without doing." wow~

Finally, interesting off-topic thing: I learned the meaning of Hospice this year due to a game about Life and Death called Narcissu, I really recommend this game even for people who don't play games at all (it's actually a novel in a game clothes).

Thanks for the info and insights. Let's keep working towards Steemit's eventual hypergrowth. :-)

So I see you got the cheetah comment on this post. What you have to do is vary your repetitive sentences or put them into images. I think you can get away with one or two that repeat in a row, but not more. Such a pain in the butt. I need to do better on my footers.

You can also petition over at cheetah for her to overlook and whitelist you. I think you would be approved because of the nature of your posts and the reason you repeat phrases. Then you do not have to worry. Because you definitely do not want to be on this list.

I second that, @fitinfun @majes.tytyty

By the way is it necessary? cheetah only tells people that there are a similar articles by the author, they don't flag unless necessary... I have a weekly post and I don't mind cheetah comments on it (even like it sometimes)

Really? Not me - I want none. But please let me know if you have better info. I think people see cheetah and think bad thoughts.

That's the worst part about a community open to everyone... they judge before knowing.

I think people see cheetah and think bad thoughts.

On the cheetah site, it says "not an accusation of wrongdoing, but merely an informative comment for the reader." So I don't feel threatened.

Still, you have a point. I DO want to keep the standard intro for each and all posts in the series, but maybe I should preface each one with a brief, personal note.

For instance, I could preface the next one with a note about being halfway thru the series. And a later post with a note about future series after this one is finished in a few months.

Do you still recommend that I send a query to cheetah, asking to be whitelisted?

Yes, you should most definitely do the prefaces. Your first two lines and title need to be keyword heavy, alluring, and only slightly repetitive.

I'm sure cheetah will have a way to get you white listed. You don't want to be dinged on every single post.

It's not about the variety in the rest of your post. It's about the few sentences that never change.

If you have "standard" pp's that are needed for learning - they need to be there and be consistent. Not shortened or changed just because of cheetah. You should not be made to do extra work that then makes your lessons weaker.

I am sure they have a list of ideas for you and tons of people whitelisted. They just want to make sure you are the real deal which you are.

I like your update ideas. Go for it and make sure I look when you start. I'm really not one for language lessons right now, but I most definitely support you and I'm working through my list to get esl friends here.

Hi FitinFun. I just posted my latest Vocab-ability, the "L" entry. If you can, please check the intro and gimme any feedback.

Also, I sent a reply to Cheetah and the person behind Cheetah re being whitelisted, and will hope for a reply on that. Thanks.
