When a baby is about to arrive, we wait with enthusiasm and enthusiasm, but also with fears and questions. A common concern is how will be the coexistence between our pet and the baby. We think of all the dangers that can be derived from this coexistence, without noticing the infinite advantages that animals and babies grow together.

However, the success of this relationship will depend, to a large extent, on not forgetting our pet. In this way, if we continue taking care of the physical and emotional needs of our pet, there is no reason not to forge one of the first and most beautiful relations of friendship that a baby could have.

Advantages of animals and babies growing up together

The advantages that animals and babies grow together are countless and parents who have the opportunity to enjoy this relationship, will enjoy-almost certainly, to be pleasantly surprised every day. These are some of the benefits that animals bring to the development of babies.

Sensory stimulation

Babies are very interested in exploring and investigating the world, and animals are a source of stimulation. With them the learnings that they extract from their first "experiments" with the world become richer in nuances. Playing with a friend provides more varied, exciting and fun experiences.

In this way, agility is enhanced by the baby's attempts to follow visually at the beginning, and then move, to his pet. In addition, discover new textures in the body of the pet ... textures that you will love to caress.

Affectivity and Empathy

Animals are terribly sensitive to babies, since they know that it is a more fragile and helpless being that needs delicacy and protection. On numerous occasions we hear news of animals that save babies, that protect them from fatal accidents or that take care of them in extreme situations. This is not fiction: the instinct of the animals leads them to preserve the life of the cubs of the herd.

Babies learn to receive and care for pets. They learn to give back something of all that they receive from those family members with whom they share time and space. Animals and babies learn to take care of each other. To love and to demonstrate it in a very spontaneous way.

In addition, different studies support that children who grow up with dogs and cats are emotionally more intelligent and compassionate. A study of children between three and six years of age showed that children who have pets are more empathetic towards animals and other human beings.

Self esteem

When parents involve children and babies in the care of pets, the children feel more capable and competent, reinforcing their self-esteem. Thus, the fact of being in the care of a pet (both within the family and in the classroom), provides children with a new and important sense of responsibility, in addition to significantly increasing their self-esteem

According to Nienke Endenburg and Ben Barda "If there are pets in a house, both parents and children are usually dealing with them, which suggests that the younger ones learn at an early age how to care for and supply a dependent animal." That is why today in many autonomous communities, early childhood classes have a pet in the classroom, because the responsibility of caring for an animal makes it grow in the smallest feelings of security and acceptance of themselves.

Health

Animals help babies develop a stronger immune system, which will make them better prepared to deal with different diseases.

Researchers from the University of Finland conducted an interesting study for the magazine "Pediatrics" which concluded that babies under one year of age who live with dogs or cats, are 30 percent less likely to suffer from cough, rhinitis or fever. In addition, the same study reveals that the likelihood of these babies contracting ear infections is halved.

Language development and cognitive development

The fact that parents, mothers and caregivers speak to the baby will have a very positive impact, both on their cognitive development and on language acquisition. It is important that we dedicate time to talk with the baby, to transmit affection through caresses and words. However, many times we overlook the existing communication between animals and babies.

When animals and babies grow together, communication between them is constant and extremely enriching. The baby will try to communicate and will find in his partner a receiver always willing to listen and respond. So much so, that studies in this sense tell us that having a pet facilitates the acquisition of language and enhances the baby's future ability in the field of communication.

Very young children extract a lot of information from reality by playing and interacting with animals. Something that in turn stimulates the cognitive development of the little ones, as well as raising the intellectual coefficient that the children will have in the future.

Sociability

Animals represent a way of experiencing the physical and social world, as they respond to their first verbalizations, as well as their bodily expressions, movements and touch.

According to Amparo Fortea, "various studies show that children who interact with healthy animals have fewer problems of adaptation, are more responsible and have a stronger immune system." Some people say that babies and children who grow up with animals are happier.

In any case, the fact of having developed and strengthened the aforementioned skills makes babies that have grown up with animals easier to establish social relationships, as well as to develop stronger and narrower bonds.

Family

Over time, babies observe how there are things that change endlessly, while others remain. People, the family, are the strongest points of support in the lives of children. And it is within this family where the children place the animals. They are a source of security and complicity for children.

Animals, in turn, feel responsible for the care and protection of babies. Sometimes, this can be stressful for them, so it will depend on our management that they live the change in the best possible way. However, once adapted to the change, they will discover another person to love. Another person who loves you. Someone to play with and share.

It is not enough to want your baby to grow up with animals

To have an animal, it is not enough to want to see your baby grow with it. This is essential. It is essential to be able to take charge of the responsibility involved, understand their rights, needs and ensure they can cover them. An animal requires time, dedication and dirt. In this sense, we need to be sensible and coherent. Because they do not deserve less.

Animals teach responsibilities, emotions and consequences. The animals teach family. The animals teach love. Animals are understood with babies because both communicate from innocence, unconditionality and tenderness. The privilege of growing up with one or more animals, regardless of how old we are, is priceless. Definitely, animals make us better people.

Great article. I love animals probably because I grew up with them. I have a connection to dogs - not cats - and they seem to like me... Except my brothers dog....he does not like me. I know it's because he talks about me behind my back criticizing me and the dog listens. LOL.

lol .. if your brother's dog says, this is chubby I want to bite him .. lol

LOL

when your brother's dog sees you, imagine this .. lol

I like this last part "Hewan mengajarkan tanggung jawab, emosi dan konsekuensi. Hewan mengajarkan keluarga. Hewan mengajarkan cinta.
