'HF20' - A Random Rambling

Much has already been said about HF20, I'll try not to repeat most of it because that would waste time. What I will say is that I don't know what's coming next. I've been told that Resource Credits will open up a whole new way of earning but nobody has provided a clear explanation of how that's supposed to take place.

I was disappointed with the rollout of HF20 but as a minnow with very little tech knowledge, I have no useful suggestions to give. All I'd like to know is what these Resource Credits are doing to improve things. Ownership of larger quantities of Steem Power doesn't guarantee that someone will be a good addition to the system. To put it another way, making users 'pay' for resources does not ensure that those resources will be treated with greater respect. It merely ensures that those resources will not be available to people with less money.

I'm as frustrated with spammy plankton accounts as anyone else but I'm not blind to those large accounts that abuse the system with few or no consequences because most users aren't able to put a dent in their rewards. I don't think the Resource Credits system has any plan for that.

I'm not an investor. I've never put any fiat into Steemit but I've spent time here creating content and slowly but consistently earning and powering up tiny amounts of Steem. There are many others like me and if we had signed up now instead of a year or two ago, we might not have survived.

I hope that in March there's a much smoother process for the introduction of SMTs. I'm still amazed by the overall vision of Steem (less so by Steemit) so I'll be around.

Like you, I do not have enough Tech knowledge to know what's going on at the moment, what's good, what's better. I will just continue to do my best until such time when I find that it is not worthwhile carrying on anymore.

I understand that. I still believe in Steem, I just worry about Steemit from time to time.

Over and over I had it repeated to me in many Discord servers during the HF20 upgrade:

Steemit is concerned with investors, not content creators. Content creators aren't investors.

It is clear to me that the general attitude towards us as content creators, because I'm also in your shoes, is that if we don't put our own money into the system to help drive up the price of Steem then they don't care what they do to us in the course of tailoring the system towards 'investors'. The fact that I don't have anything personally invested in the platform besides my content and time is the only thing keeping me around.

I wish you considerable luck in the continuation of your endeavors here and I'll see you around.

Some of us content creators can only afford to invest time right now. Investors are great for Steem but Steemit requires dedicated content creators, curators and engagement to survive. It sometimes sounds like the folks in charge aren't that interested in the survival of Steemit as long as there's still a way to profit massively off of Steem. But that's just how it looks for now, time will tell. I wish you luck as well.

howdy from Texas elementm! I couldn't agree with you more, I'm not a tech person either but by reading the update they sent out yesterday it's a little bit concerning because while they say that everything is fixed and that the system is working the way it's supposed to, I don't understand how small accounts and new accounts are supposed to make it and grow unless they pour their own money in and most can't afford to do that.

So with the objective of helping the small and new accounts I'm just shaking my head at their logic because it looks totally illogical.
but I agree with you, Steemit is too good a thing to abandon just yet and I'll wait to see what happens next.
very good and thought-provoking post!
