32 Reasons Why GoT Season 8 Sucked

in #writing5 years ago

I'm still pissed about how bad the ending to GoT was.

It keeps me up at night. So does climate change, and the fact that our society will erode into chaos before anyone manages to actually overthrow capitalism.

I'm a nerd. Whatever.

The colossal fuckup of the writers, D&D, remains a nightmare! Shout out to literally everyone else on the show who did their best and gave it their blood.

Here's a list of 30 reasons why, in no particular order, Season 8 of GoT sucked.

  1. S8E5. Jaimie is trying to get the guards attention as King's Landing prepares for the siege. They don’t listen and lose the gates. So he just promptly walks by the guards on his super secret mission. Why didn't he just talk to them? See pics.

Soldier!

I need to get a hold of a Lannister soldier!

Excuse me, Lannister guards...

#2. Tyrion knows about a secrete entrance to the Red Keep. He wants to avoid slaughter. Instead of telling Danny to use it to kill Cersei, and save the city, he instead just tells Jaimie about it.

#3. Jon never talks about meeting Aemon Targaryan, the maester, to Danny. You'd think it would be an important point of discussion. For that matter, they don't every really talk about anything. Muh Kween.

#4. Sam is Grand Maester despite breaking literally all vows he made.

#5. Sansa is able to get a free kingdom without the other Kingdom's giving a shit. Remember when the Iron Islands attempted such a feat, twice, and went to war over it, twice? Well apparently it's all fine for the North to do.

#6. Tyrion never proposes Jon as king despite his story being better and him being the hero of living, and, you know, being the one that convinced him to kill Danny. Apparently the entire realm is okay with Jon getting the boot, despite sacrificing everything for them to battle against the NK. Pretty shitty...

#7. Tyrion’s name is not in "The Song Of Ice And Fire" despite being THE central reason for the start of the War of 5 kings. Cat captured him and brought him to the Veil...

#8. The stupid auto-targetting from Euron killing the dragon, 3-for-3 Kobe style. Made absolute garbage sense.

#9. Danny and everyone “just forgot” about the Iron Fleet (according to D&D) despite them literally talking about it in the scene before, and being unable to see the ships from the air…

#10. King Bran sends Jon, hero of the living, to the wall despite the fact that the Unsullied left and literally nobody else gives a shit.

#11. Literally no mention of the Dothraki after Jon killed Danny, effectively making him the new Khal

#12. The undead killed everybody, all the unsullied and all the dothraki. We see this happen on screen. The writers say as much in their "after episode explanation". Then they all just respawn again.

#13. Smartest man in westeros doesn’t think about the dead coming to life in the Stark crypts

#14. Bran says “I’ve got to go now” during the Long Night, then wargs. But we never see what he does. It’s completely irrelevant. His powers serve no purpose.

#15. The relationship between the Three Eyed Raven and the NK is never explained.

#16. The horn they found in season 2 was never mentioned again.

#17. Arya’s facechanging ability was never used beyond killing Freys.

#18. The Unsullied check Jon Snow for weapons when visiting Tyrion but not when he goes to see Danny.

#19. Bran discusses the need for a master of whispers even though he is exactly that.

#20. Bran asks about the dragon, and if they know where it is. But if they knew, wouldn’t he know? Do his power extend beyond Westeros? Never explained.

#21. In Episode 4, Bronn goes North, does nothing, arrives at the perfect moment to find Jaimie and Tyrion drinking, demands a castle, threatens them then promptly disappears. How did he get there? Are all the guards dead? The scene makes no sense.

Jaimie and Tyrion can just get him arrested if Danny wins. How can they just take Highgarden, one of the most powerful castles in the kingdom, and give it to Bronn? If Cersei wins, what’s stopping her from killing him as punishment for killing her family? Why would he believe anything she offered? Nothing about this scene is believable.

#22. Varys wrote letters about Jon Snow's true heritage. They did nothing.

#23. The scorpions managed to kill a dragon in episode 4, then are promptly destroyed by a single dragon in episode 5. Sharpshooters to Stormtroopers.

#24. Arya discusses the important of family and leaves Winterfell five minutes later, stating she can’t be with her family anymore.

#25. Arya finds a white horse after surviving the siege of KL. Then the next episode begins and the horse is gone. Useless, meaningless.

#26. After the roof caves in and kills Jaimie and Cersei, in the finale, we see that actually, if they had just moved 5 feet in the other direction, they could have survived. Also their faces were perfectly fine.

#27. Davos secured a rowboat for Jaimie to escape with Cersei. Jaimie only has 1 hand.

#28. No talk about Ellaria Sand, who was trapped in the dungeons.

#29. Tormund exclaims his awe that Jon Snow rode a dragon, forgetting that he did exactly that in season 7.

#30. If Bran can't be the heir to Winterfell, why can he be King of the Realm?????

#31. Euron surprise attacked them and destroyed most of their fleet, then....left them? Why didn't Euron finish the job and siege dragon stone? Or destroy the rest of their navy, leaving them trapped on Dragonstone (almost like how Stannis was left there during Robert's Rebellion)?

#32. ABOVE ALL ELSE: If Bran had foresight and knew what was going to happen, knowing that Arya would kill the NK, etc etc. That means he knew that Danny would commit mass atrocities. That means he knew that his reign would begin at the cost of tens of thousands of people burned to death. That makes him a tyrant, and evil. Hell, more so than can be said about Danny.

Nice post.

But in my opinion, only one reason (and it's more than enough) explains it all: that abominable ending!

omg it was terrible. I'm still pissed

Umm, feeling demotivated to watch the movie.
