Are night owls at a higher risk of death than an early bird?

We all know that one person who doesn't wake up until 12 pm and stays up until 5 am. Or at least, they would like to, but our society doesn't function well with these late night workers unless they find the right kind of work. In fact, being a night owl in a 9 to 5 world can be pretty dangerous. Night owls seem to be prone to many diseases and have higher mortality rates than an early bird, this is due to being forced into the morning work and force of sleep in order to function in society. It can throw a person completely out of wack and their behavior, work ethic, and sometimes even appetite will suffer due to all of these changes, as these chronotypes of early bird and night owl are in our genetic ancestry and gene pool.

Both of these chronotypes are actually vital in survival and preparedness scenarios. Being a night owl, they can stay awake into the night and keep those who sleep early safe by keeping watch for predators or people wishing to steal or harm their family or friends. Likewise, early birds are able to wake in the morning before the sun getting the days work done and keeping the night owl safe while they sleep. For any survival situation, it is crucial to utilize these two types of people and make sure that their chronotypes are identified in order to keep everyone at their best and alert without the need for drugs or adrenaline boosters such as caffeine.

These are all vital things to know and take into consideration with the current situation going on in the world. Preparing for survival in the case of an all-out war. Knowing your chronotype and inviting the diversity of another into your group could be very vital in keeping yourself and others safe should bombs begin to drop as once that happens, people will be fighting for resources.

I'd rather be a morning owl ^_^

Interesting

I'm a morning person!

Sun's out, and I sure could use a nap.

When I was younger I was more of a night owl. Now that I'm older I tend to like to keep a schedule that allows me to get my 6-8 hours of sleep a night and it seems I am becoming more of an early bird. Interestingly enough, I used to work overnights 19:00-07:00 for years, and sometimes it would change or I would have to travel to a different country with 6-12+ hour time zone difference on a short notice. As long as I got my rest once I adjusted I was fine and I could stay alert and do my job well. Transitioning is always the most difficult.

I have always been a Night Owl... I used to go all night into the wee hours of the morning before sleeping. Yet, duty calls and I must force myself to get to sleep early

There is truth to this, this will benefit many if they listen to this knowledge
