The Duchess

The Duchess is a very well made historical film and Keira Knightley does a fantastic job becoming Georgina. I think that Keira really shined in this movie, bring her character to life, doing a great job of showing the internal emotion and turmoil that her character faced throughout the movie. The plot of the movie was also very three dimensional and full of character development. At one point, Georgina tells Bess that there is a limit to what you do for your kids and Bess replies that there isn't. Later Georgina also recognizes this and makes the hard choice to lose her lover so she can stay and take care of her kids.

The ending isn't necessarily happy, but it does give some closure to the audience. I think that anything more would have romanticized or made the movie less realistic.

Overall, a great historical drama.
