Would You Rather: Receive $1 Million Dollars OR Give 100 Strangers a $1 Million Dollars Each?

So what would you rather? Gain a solid financial situation and keep the money for yourself or better the lives of some 100 people with a self-less act of charity?

Now really think about this one, don't just give the answer of "giving it all away" to make yourself look good. Let us here the truth may it be selfish or truly not.

So if I was so lucky to have to make this decision I would

Give 100 Strangers $1 Million Dollars

I would not expect to receive anything in return but I would hope that some may be so grateful for having been chosen they would pay it forward to someone in need or even return some of the $ back to me! If you think about it each of the recipients would only have to give back $10,000 each in order for you to receive your Million. Pretty awesome.

Brilliant comment! If they gave you only 10,000 each you'd get a million too! So everyone would get lots of money! I didn't think of it that way. Hopefully you wouldn't have to remain unknown.

Thanks! Well since I made up the question... I say you don't have to remain unknown ;)

Ok so this is actually a tricky question somewhat! Are you saying $1 million to each of the 100 people or split $1 million between them vs us receiving $1 million for ourselves?

Oh ok sorry, the post title didn't specify so that definitely changes my outlook alot :) The mathematics of any of them sharing with others would be a better investment. Like you said I wouldn't expect anything but if they did give it would be nice. If each person gifted $100,000 that would give you $10 Million exceeding the initial selfish $1 million. Then I could help the other 100 people that I know as well lol

To me the best choice is - take the million, invest it in a safe asset returning 6% a year and give away the 60k in proceeds each year for the rest of your living years.

You get the joy of helping every year instead of one time and come the 18th year you will now have given more than that initial $1 million.

A solid plan and generous giving plan but do remember yes you pass your initial $1 Mill after 18 years but instead of taking the money you would be giving $100 Million away which would be very difficult to do with your initial self payment.

Ah, the way I read it - give $1 million to 100 strangers; as in they get $10,000 each one time. Yes, a million each definitely changes those numbers!

It is easier to make more money once one has money, and so a person could easily take the money for his own self use, and then help that other 100 or more later.

In fact, even if one were to blow that 1M dollars it is all going somewhere. Whether it be taxes, a retailer or broker, to the company, to the shareholders. To each one of them, they too would spend money that effectively keeps cycling the money. But for the most part it would be cycling money without a purpose.

Shame on me I suppose :/ but I'd definitely take the million for myself. Simply because longing to secure a financial situation for myself I also have 100 people with in my own circumference that I would want to empower before a total stranger. Once I give away the entire amount who's to say that the opportunity will ever present itself again. Who's to say that any of the 100 individuals will even have the giving heart to bless others as well. When you already know you'd help others regardless of wealth sometimes you have to help yourself first. Secure financial freedom then uplift others. Or Uplift others while securing financial freedom together. There isn't an in between in my opinion!

Well although not exactly gone to in-depth but would it make a difference if you can hand pick these 100 strangers? Look into their situations and decide for yourself? Rather then a completely random stranger.

I believe handpicking the individuals from people that I personally know would give me a better chance because I try to surround myself with like-minded people. The influence I have on them would likely rub off so that we could accomplish more with the million, than just randomly giving it all to charity. I'm probably one of the least selfish people on the planet that I know but I truly feel like that would be the best option under my personal circumstances. If we were homeless & hungry and I found $100 I'd buy enough food for us to share whether I knew you or not but in investing to make more to help others I would choose a different approach

I WOULD GIVE THIS MONEY AWAY TO STANGER BECAUSE I THE THOUGHT EVER CAM THROUGH MY MIND ID BE SURE I HAD A BILLION MORE.

I'd have to go with the second, because I'd be ashamed of myself for ruining the opportunity for 100 people in order to satisfy myself.

But, I would likely accost the people I selected and be like, "Sort me out 100K or so then, mate?"

I'm curious how many of us will really choose to give 1 million to 100 people, with the money in their hands. I would give the money to 100 people on Steemit and I'm pretty much sure that more than half will make me proud and happy about it.

I'd totally give 100 strangers $1 million dollars each...on the condition that they each give me 10% back...
