This time the boys from Higher Brothers and Famous Dex! The videos I have seen so far were a mixture of pseudo-gangster style and a good portion of self-irony (which I always like much more). The texts are rapped in English & Chinese and thankfully translated with subtitles in the videos. The topics I have noticed so far were relatively ironic - e.g. "Made in China" is partly about the fact that almost every product from China uses every day.

Higher Brothers are part of a much bigger rap collective from Sichuan called Chengdu Rap House. They first appeared on the 88rising Youtube channel (their american label) in 2016 but there where very active since 2012. They even had the chance to do a north america tour in the beginning of 2018.

Hallo geneigter Freund des ausländischen Sprechgesangs, Heute geht es über die große Mauer in Richtung China. Mein neues Lieblingstools für diese Rubrik www.foreignrap.com hilft mir jede Woche neue Künstler aus der ganzen Welt kennenzulernen.

Dieses Mal die Jungs von Higher Brothers und Famous Dex! Die Videos die ich von ihnen bisher gesehen haben waren eine Mischung aus Pseudogangster Style und einer ordentlichen Portion Selbstironie (was mir ja immer wesentlich mehr gefällt). Die Texte werden in English und Chinesisch gerappt und dankenswerter Weise in den Videos sogar noch mit Untertiteln übersetzt. Die Themen die mir bisher aufgefallen sind waren relativ ironisch – z.B. bei "Made in China" geht es zum Teil darum das fast jeder Produkte aus China täglich benutzt.

Higher Brothers sind Teil eines viel größeren Rap-Kollektivs aus Sichuan namens Chengdu Rap House. Sie erschienen erstmals 2016 auf dem 88rising Youtube Channel (ihrem amerikanischen Label) sind aber schon seit 2012 sehr aktiv. Sie hatten sogar die Möglichkeit, Anfang 2018 eine Nordamerika-Tournee zu machen.
