How to design a 3D-like image of Metamask logo in 2D form - Autocad Designing
Hello Everyone!
I want to share something that's not similar to what I've been posting lately which were 3D designs of some random things. This time, I will be recreating Metamask logo with the use of basic drawing tools of Autocad. This is some sort of simplified ways on how to draw in autocad projecting a 3D-like image but in 2D form.
Actually, there are ways on how to properly project an image in various perspective. That's why also, I selected this subject because it already portrays a 3D-like projection in 1-point perspective though it's really on front view. But this, this guide will focus on the recommended tools in generating such image using limited resources of the application.
So here's the process:
First is the outline tracing of the image. Attach the image on 2D-space and by using the polyline tool, trace the outline of the image including lines in different angles of projection depicting bounded faces of the image. If it happens that you wanna try to outline a curvy image with lots of arcs, you have to use the spline tool.
After tracing, separate the attached image to the outlined form.
Evaluate any missing forms or important faces that can enhanced the 3D projection of the image.
Next is to apply boundary tool. This will create a closed bounded area on all those formed shapes that you trace. You can also use join tool, but it will take a lot of time in selecting lines.
Then apply region tool to those bounded areas. This will add a plane region to those areas in a form of hatch.
The last part and probably the most important, is adding the correct shades of color. Shading adds value to the object. It adds details that will help viewer identify what he's/she's staring at. With the help of Imagecolorpicker, I was able to identify the correct colors of the logo and its RGB values.
And you're done! This is now the finished output of Metamask logo using autocad.
On my next design, I will try to recreate this metamask logo but in full solid form. I will be exploring some easy ways on how to do it and hopefully share it you. If you like see more of my Autocad designs, visit my profile and follow me! ;)
