So much wind!steemCreated with Sketch.

This morning, I decided to water some trees. Normally, this would be a good idea except today the wind is ferocious. After an hour of watering thirsty trees, I needed to go inside and rest because I just could not take the wind anymore.

It is always windy where I live. Sometimes the wind is just oppressive. The rest of the time, the wind is ferocious. Occasionally, the wind is catastrophic. Walking against the wind is like walking up hill. Having the wind at your back sounds like an ideal situation, but it can knock you off your feet if you are not careful.

Prairie people are hard core and they rarely take any crap from the weather. This meme is made from a famous picture of a guy living near Calgary in Alberta. He has got stuff to do and has no time for whatever Mother Nature is dishing up today. He is kind of my hero.

Just the same, there is only so much a person can take. The summer before last, we had this especially ferocious wind that came from the northwest. It was a monster that I believe qualified as what is known as a plough wind. People around here like to debate whether a plough wind was really a plough wind, or if the victims are just being dramatic. It is a sort of one-up-man-ship---"the plough wind I lived through was way worse than that breeze you are describing!" That sort of thing.

A plough wind is also known as a "derecho" or a "downburst". Frankly, they should just be called a disaster.

So what happened is that I was outside and the wind started to pick up. Lawn furniture and garden tools started to levitate and blow around. I decided it was time to go in before I was impaled by a rake or something. My poor cat was petrified with fear, so I picked him up on my way into the house. A moment later a cardboard box came flying towards me, spooking the cat in my arms. Attempting to save his own life, the cat scratched me up and then disappeared under the desk. Good times.

The strong gusts of wind went on for some time and it was relentless. The northwest corner of my roof was damaged, but fortunately, the roof stayed on. Today reminded me of that wind.

Take a look at this video that shows the aftermath of a plough wind in Saskatchewan:

This is a 100% POWER UP! post.

When you live and do not see such a destructive wind, you do not fully understand the happiness in which you live :))

Yes...I think...I mean there could be worse things to happen. This constant wind is a pain though.

It remains only to accept this wind as a gift from God :)

On Saturday, I was cooking meat on the bbq and the wind came and blew it right off the grill!! Jasper had a tasty treat.

I think the wind was happy with its antics :))

Sometimes there are such extreme weather condition, I believe I would not like to live in such area. But people get used to.
