First Witness Survey Questions

in #witness5 years ago (edited)

As we discussed in our first announcement, we hope to become a tool for the community to seek out where each witness stands on the issues that matter the most to you. We aim to do this by allowing the community to ask any question they see fit and compiling those questions into a survey that we hope each witness will take the time to complete. This means the entire project relies on the Steem community to present questions that are worthwhile for the witnesses to address.

In 14 days we are going to take all of the questions that are submitted here and compile them into a single survey. This survey will then be sent on to each witness via a transfer memo for them to complete. Once they've submitted their results we will be submitting a new post with the results for everyone on Steem to be able to identify where each witness stands.

Guidelines:

  • All questions should be relevant and respectful. We will not include any questions that are not handled in a professional manner.
  • Questions should be addressed to all witnesses in general. There will not be individual witness surveys so each question will be seen by all witnesses.
  • Use a different comment for each question you wish to get a response for.
  • Consider reading other questions and upvoting ones that are relevant to you. We are requesting each witness to answer at least 25 questions so adding your support to an existing question may help you get an answer over submitting the same question twice.
  • Please consider sharing this with your friends. The more visibility the survey has the more likely witnesses are going to want to participate.

As I understand it votes for witnesses last forever until the steemian manually removes or adjusts them. Do you think votes for witnesses should last indefinitely or should they time out (or perhaps decay over time) so that periodically voters will need to reevaluate and affirm their positions by recasting their votes?

Do you think the 30 witness votes each steemian gets is the correct number, especially in light of the fact there are only 20 top witnesses to be seated? (see this post by @ats-witness from a few weeks ago.
https://steemit.com/steem/@ats-witness/steem-witnesses-vote-number-and-decay for a discussion of this topic).

I can't think of any other democratic system where voters cast votes for more people then the positions that are being elected!

What is a concern or two that you have about the #steem blockchain?

What are you hopeful about for the #steem blockchain?

What do you think the SBD price for a new account should be?

Have you implemented any new procedures for evaluating potential hardforks?

How does a new user make the availability of his vote known to the cabal of witnesses wannabes trying to overthrow the current witness regime?

Witnesses are constantly campaigning for your vote, you can check out witness or witness-category tags to find those posts, or did you mean something else?

I just seen a new post by @knircky and thought it was an excellent question to add to the survey. Should we have interest for SBD?

What takeaways do you have from the Hardfork 20 issues that occurred?

Do you think 20/21 top witnesses a good number or should there be more or less?
