Witness "pjau" Update Week 49steemCreated with Sketch.

in #witness-update5 years ago

Hello everyone!

So my forty-ninth week as a witness is over. At the time of writing my full rank is #102 and my active rank is #96.

I've had no issues with the server, everything is running smoothly still. Since last weeks update I've produced 28 blocks and haven't missed any. I haven't changed any of my witness settings.

Outside of being a witness, I've put in 10 hours with @steemcleaners since last update, processed over 200 user reports. Not much else to say really, I took it easy this week, I've been playing @magicdice. 😂

Anyway, I think that is all for this weeks update!

Hey, @pjau.

Glad to see everything is running smoothly and you were able to get in a week of recreation, from the sound of things. :)

Hey mate, yeah it's good to do something different, even if it was still Steem related. Can't escape!!!! 🤣

Can't escape the magic dice? Or the mob goons? I mean, do online gambling games have enforcers, too? I don't know man... :)

Wow. There's a lot to unpack here. :) And unfortunately, it's not so cut and dry, which only complicates things.

I guess to the heart of the matter is this—there are no organizations currently on chain that deal with rewards disagreements, right? The main thing I got out of the back and forth here is that one party thought the other party should do something even though their mandate is spam, and plagiarism.

I mean, $9.50-ish on a random comment is over-the-top. It's not your fault, though. I guess you could say, Hey, magic dice, take me off your randomizer list. I haven't gone that far myself, even if I wish people would quit using their bots to upvote my stuff. Saying something feels like burning bridges, or being ungrateful, with a little bit of self-righteousness mixed in.

As long as there are no rules governing the use of stake, it's going to be the double-edged sword. Hey, but if you did tell magic dice to "knock it off," at least you wouldn't be "a hypocrite." :)

Anyway. Can't even play magic dice without the drama. Great. :)

there are no organizations currently on chain that deal with rewards disagreements

As far as I know, that is correct. I mean @steemflagrewards does have a "bid bot abuse" category, but in general not anything for flagging something because it has "too much" payout on it.

I mean, $9.50-ish on a random comment is over-the-top.

I don't disagree. To be honest I never ever thought I would get a vote at all. The problem is, it is @magicdice 's stake, they can do with it as they will. The delegators to it hold the power, they should really be the people that have the say in it as they are the ones delegating to it.

But anyway, if @steemcleaners got involved with reward disagreements, that would just open up a lot of things, I mean basically anything could be flagged then for whatever reason.. haha It would be chaos.

I agree. Nothing would be safe, which is why I'm not inclined to downvote on the basis of rewards anyway. If there's phishing going on, definitely. If there's spamming and plagiarism, I'll draw attention to it (usually someone already has). I always feel, especially the size of the upvote I could do, that it wouldn't be much more than symbolic, and I generally find a better use for it.

Speaking of steamcleaners—is there something going on? I just read a post from a rather large account saying he (I think it was a he—can't remember their name) wasn't going to help support them anymore because someone there was going after him? Or at least that's what I got out of it.

I know from a different case last year that you and I spoke about that there have been some folks that are overzealous, I'll say, in their quest for putting an end to plagiarism, in particular.

wouldn't be much more than symbolic

Sometimes that is all that is needed 😊

is there something going on

Not sure who you are talking about, but there are a number of high stakes (as well as low) that want us gone so they have free reign to spam with out anyone stopping them.
