Witness Update #7: 23/09/2017
Being a Steemit witness is not only running a witness server. You have to get involved with the community and try to make it a better place. Here are my actions since the last Witness Update (21 days ago :D ):
I haven't been very active in the past few days, as I've been working my ass off at work, at home and everywhere, with the exception being the last weekend when I travelled to NL to see one of my favorite bands performing live for the first time. You can catch the post here!

I am currently sitting at #117 position. If I were more active, I would have been higher, but that's the price to pay when you are too busy! Big thanks to @sc-steemit's Minnow Witness Project for his vote, and I would like to thank the fellow Greek Steemians for their latest votes.
Help!
No, I don't need help! I helped @artgalleryraka get her account verified, as it was seen as "double" by the Steemit "Authority".
I haven't been very active in the chat as well lately, but I helped a few steemians on the help channel, as well as talked to some members of the Greek community to rectify some of their questions.
Price
STEEM has dropped a lot in value since my last witness update. It is now a great time to buy Steem if you need some extra power in the network. All the news about Bitcoin coming from the other side of the globe (mainly the Pacific Asian territory) is causing a drop in prices on all altcoins. But fear not, as always, I have a feeling that we will get an increase soon (as soon as the recent influx of bad, bad, news settle down [each word is a different link]
Muse Blockchain
As you may/may not have noticed, I'm also witnessing the Muse blockchain. I'm standing at position #14, with almost 1G votes. Thank you all for your votes!

Projects
As soon as I'm finished with one of the projects I'm working on my free time (should be done within the week), I'm planning to start a project involving the Steemit Blockchain, IPFS and of course... You! It will be a commercial one, but I'll try to keep it as cheap as possible. More details will come as soon as I have an outline and a demo to show!

What do you think is the solution to new user approval (to curb the spam)?
PS: I've been going through some of the threads of the Top 50 Witnesses and noticed that there are some who aren't replying to questions. So if you can do so...that may be your key to get ahead! :D
I think that the upcoming "user account mining" solution is a great way to reduce spam. It won't eliminate it (nothing will, if I'm being frank).
However, (and since we are talking about spam) we have many tools at our disposal to help reduce spam even now. @steemcleaners and the various other antispam accounts/services are doing a great job but they need us to do our part (report spam).
My only concern is piracy and child pornography. I don't have a solution for that, and since we are in a blockchain I don't think we can do a lot. Since images are proxied through Steemit's servers though, they could implement a method to remove those images.
As for spam links & piracy, we could have something as a link verifier, that could block spam/piracy links.
