As a steemian who want to see this platform continue to grow and flourish, we all have 30 votes to cast for any steemit witness of our choice and I will say this is the most important 30 votes you will ever cast on this platform.

Meet our steemwitness is a program put in place to know more about our steem witness, there roles and obligations. We need them as much as they needs us. Our witness are the leaders on the platform and thus it is our paramount importance that we due our due diligence before casting our votes.

Today I would like to introduce you to one of the

community witness who believe in growing awesome curators, who believe in community leaders trying to gain influence on the Steem Blockchain and educating minnows and the owner of @steemcommunity

Join me as I welcome witness @abh12345...

Welcome to my interview and thanks for the honor.

@dhavey~How did you first hear about steemit and what made you decide to join?

I heard of steemit via @stephenkendal's Twitter feed. He had his own technical analysis tool in place to monitor stocks and crypto charts which interested me, and yeah, he was shilling steemit.com like a good-un at the time.

@dhavey~For steemians who don't know much about witnesses, can you give a layman explanation of what it is that witnesses do?

I'll try. The most important role of a Witness is to keep a block-producing Steem node up and running. Each block contains a set of transactions - votes, comments, follows, etc, which are then added to the chain and sealed forever more. They are also expected to provide an ongoing price feed of the value of STEEM tokens, and find other ways to contribute positively to the developments and the community.

@dhavey~Being a witness takes a lot of time and energy, how do you keep a balance between this and other commitments?

Well luckily, I have a partner (@paulag), and so I guess sharing the role helps with with this. I'm currently not seeking employment and have prioritized Steem, along with learning the ropes as a new witness.

@dhavey~What is one thing that most people don't know about you?

Many things! I'm a bit deaf in one ear following a motorbike accident in my early 20's. Oh, and I used to own a Care Bear.

@dhavey~Can you tell us more about @steemcommunity?

This seems like a good opportunity to drop our introductary post :)

https://steemit.com/witness-category/@steemcommunity/introducing-steemcommunity-a-witness-project-by-abh12345-and-paulag

@dhavey~What are the things steemians can benefit from @steemcommunity?

A reply to a comment, most of the time at least. Praise, politeness, integrity, honesty. You know, that kind of stuff.

@dhavey~What makes you different from other witnesses in the steem community?

Probably our level of engagement on the blockchain over the past year.

@dhavey~What is the biggest challenge you have ever faced since you joined steem?

The balance between producing content that is interesting, and seeking out the same. And again, a balance between looking up and seeking support, whilst looking down to try and find the right people to encourage.

@dhavey~As one of the witness, what is your duty?

I would say this is mostly covered in the first answer. There is little more required as part of a contractual responsibility, which could perhaps change in the future.

@dhavey~What is the biggest challenge the steem community must overcome before it goes widespread?

There are a few but one I am interested in at present is persuading the smaller accounts like myself to hold and power up STEEM. We have about 1500 accounts classed as 'dolphin', and I think this number needs to grow rapidly be able to support the new arrivals.

There are also other on-going challenges like spam, plagiarism, and the rewards algorithm, which may well need a look before the big-time hit.

@dhavey~I know that you are always busy with your computer trying to help the community, apart from that, what are the other things you enjoy doing?

Steem/steemit has taken over my time in recent months, but I enjoy being outside and riding my bike when the sun is shining. Music is playing for the most part, and occasionally I'll do a bit of gaming. And soon the World Cup starts, I'll be watching as much as I can of that.

@dhavey~Where do you see the value of steem in the next 4-5 years along with the platform?

Following the general trend of Bitcoin for foreseeable future. Hopefully there will be positive breakaway at some point by the most useful coins, and STEEM will be one of them.

I can see steemit.com having its place in the Steem blockchain hall of fame as the first portal created, but expect there to be 100's more, hosting a huge variety of applications that may in this time become more popular than the 'original'.

@dhavey~What's the big plans you are working on to make steemit great?

We have a few ideas that are in early brainstorming process, hopefully at least on of those will come to fruition and benefit the platform. I'm not giving any clues away just yet though :)

@dhavey~What other crypto currencies do you fancy?

At current prices, most of them! STEEM tops the list though due to the promise of it being the most useful (free transactions, fast transfers, etc). It's hard not to be interested in what's going on over at EOS, and I'm also keen on the decentralized exchange tokens like Waves and Bit-shares.

@dhavey~Some people have called crypto currency the internet 2.0 while others think it is just a hiccup in evolution, what are your thoughts on the future of crypto?

It is the future of money. Direct transactions, stored on a virtually un-hackable digital ledger - I have no doubt that cryptocurrency will replace fiat over the years to come.

@dhavey~What will be the implications of government having a say in cryptocurrency world?

Not being able to take a piece of the pie, at transaction level at least, is bound to be irritating banks and governments. They have, and will likely set up numerous roadblocks on the way, but hopefully the train is moving too fast to be stopped.

@dhavey~If you could only vote for one witness (not yourself) who would it be and why?

This would probably be @timcliff as, in my opinion, he has shown the best balance across the disciplines of being a witness. Sort of like the middle man between steemit inc and the end users.

@dhavey~In five sentences or less, tell steemians why you deserve their vote.

I've never been good at blowing smoke up my own ass. Without a major project behind us yet, I guess you'll just have to rely on us being honest, open, engaged, and keen to do the best we can.

@dhavey~How did you come across your username @abh12345?

I wrote a post about that fairly recently:

https://steemit.com/steemitnamechallenge/@abh12345/where-my-spam-looking-username-comes-from

Basically, I wanted @asher but that was taken, and thought oh well, 'this is just the login ID, I can use a friendly name - not realizing that @abh12345 would be what everyone saw. DOH.

@dhavey~If you could have a privilege to change something about steem, what would it be?

I would change 'Trending' link to 'Promoted'.

@dhavey~It is so awesome finally having a chat with you @abh12345.

No worries, cheers!

It's my pleasure @paulag

Very nice comprehensive interview. I think a lot of @abh12345 and @paulag, they both are about helping and promoting steemit and encouraging people to interact with each other on steemit.

I think a good follow up to this interview would be @arcange, lately he has been doing a whole lot to help protect not only the new users but all users on steemit. At no charge completely free.

Sure I will
Thanks

This is a great series of interviews: I'm currently trawling steemit to find good accounts to follow/ recommend to people to keep abreast of developments on the blockhain, I'll defo add you to the list.

Just one thing: you should put the name of the witness in the actual title! That slug determines search returns.

Thanks! I will start doing that in my next interview. Gracia's
