bitcoiner - Witness Update #6 - 2016-10-28
My fellow Steemians,
Welcome to my sixth witness update, a weekly post I do every Friday as some other witnesses do. These updates will hopefully be helpful to keep my followers and the community up-to-date with what I have been working on. I do hope I may gain your witness approval vote.
@jesta had devised a template that I've been using, which will be used here too. And as always for witness update posts, I will use the Power Up 100% option.
1. Accomplished the week of 2016-10-28
- Released a new tool to visualize the witness schedule in real-time. This shows the production of blocks as it happens, as well as upcoming backup witnesses and miners that will be scheduled. - I have done some updates on it since announcing and releasing this tool. These extra features and changes will be detailed in another post soon.
- Worked some more with @timcliff on the "Welcome to Steemit" page, and have made progress on incorporating this into the codebase. I will hopefully have this finished up by the end of the week or early next week and then post about it with a live demo for everyone to see and review.
- Got my public seed node seed.bitcoiner.me listed on @wackou's node statuses site at https://status.steemnodes.com/.
- Worked some more on some Steem-related web projects. They're not quite ready for release and need some more code work and testing before I can announce. Stay tuned.
2. Upcoming projects/goals
- Finish up the "Welcome to Steemit" page and have a demo up.
- Submit Steemit.com codebase changes currently working on.
- Continue with @timcliff's wish list and trying to implement some of the items there.
- Continue with the Steem-related web projects and have announcements and demos.
- Continue being active on Steemit, Steemit Chat, and GitHub.
3. Thoughts from this week
This was indeed an interesting week. STEEM price has dropped to a pretty low threshold and testing people's patience in the midst of little news from @dantheman or @ned.
However, they have both posted today with some good news and the market did see a small price increase. Surely there will be greater things to come and Steemit and Steem will really make an impact in the cryptoworld. Time will tell. But as of this Halloween weekend, you can see the new Halloween-themed logo is missing the beta mark. @ned has commented that the beta has chosen to be a ghost! Haha.
With the new website changes soon to be released, the social networking aspect will surely get to be better and more user-friendly, attracting and retaining more users to come.
Finally, thanks to everyone who have voted for me as witness. I am currently at 44! Thanks to all who support me and like what I do. It is all very much appreciated!

I love watching the witness tool. It's almost like a brain break as I watch it shuffle and go down the list. And thanks for turning me on to @timcliff too. I think I may have been holding off my upvote for him because it almost felt like unfair favoritism (if that makes any sense) - but his contributions to the community cannot be ignored - so that's been remedied :)

Good work with witness queue, @bitcoiner! Having this on Steem Monitor mobile app Would be great, would love to see if you have time to add this. Did you know Steem Monitor is opensource and in JavaScript?! Keep up the good work ;)
@good-karma, thanks very much! Glad you like it! Love Steem Monitor! I know it's with cordova and ionic which are great tools, a lot of my mobile apps are actually just using phonegap haha. My witness queue visualization is basically all client-sided so it could just be dropped in, though the js is a bit messy lol. Thanks again!
