WikiLeaks Vault 7 Leak Claims CIA Bugs ‘Factory Fresh’ iPhones
A new WikiLeaks Vault 7 leak titled “Dark Matter” claims, with unreleased documents, that the Central Intelligence Agency has been bugging “factory fresh” iPhones since at least 2008. WikiLeaks further claims that the CIA has the capability to permanently bug iPhones, even if their operating systems are deleted or replaced.
The documents are expected to be released in the next 24-hours. The announced was made after a “press briefing” that WikiLeaks promoted on its Twitter.
Here's what the hacking of the iphone means in a nutshell. These backdoors into your iphone come straight from the factory there's no passcode or software update that can patch theses holes. This would require apple engineers working directly with the CIA to design a phone that is easily hackable without the operating system running. Clearly Apple is an accomplice to these violations of privacy.
Two things to take away from this news.
Expect civilian hackers to exploit these holes and steal even more of your personal data.
Apple is not your friend, it works the CIA just like many other tech companies to steal you data.
Apple needs to come out and apologize to customers and promise to fix these holes in the new models. Also, white hat hackers need to come out with solutions to these exploits and share them with the public. If none of that happens maybe it's time for people to start using 10-12 year old cell phones and say fuck apple and the rest of the companies that allow the CIA to spy on people.
It's beyond me how the CIA manages to keep hiring competent hackers, business experts, spies, etc when I couldn't even find a helper with my floor project who could use a hammer. Also, unsure as to why they want to waste their time spying on iPhone-using millennials who are involved in nothing and have zero understanding of anything except Instagram.
It's easier to 'plant the bugs' on the hardware at the factory than break into someones home and do it.
