Content creators moving to Whaleshares // My thoughts about this.

in #whaleshares5 years ago (edited)

More and more content creators and musicians are leaving STEEM, powering down and moving to Whaleshares. It is a very odd thing i have been seeing lately. Im not going to name who they are but many of them have been on STEEM for a very long time.

I just cant avoid asking:

Can it be that Whaleshares will compete with STEEM for content creators?

We have talks on Steemit i picked up on few days ago, about cutting the author part of the payout in favor of curation and i see creators already leaving before any change was even made, for what they believe to be "greener pastures".

I know that WLS has very low volumes on Rudex right now but it seems that for many people the opportunity to be an early adopter and have a strong position going forward is just too appealing.
Consider if you were an early adopter of STEEM and what that would have meant for you.

What if Whaleshares succeeds?

All those creators that earned a few hundred dollars on Steem during their time here, from content creation, could now become whales on Whaleshares.
A platform where content creators, musicians, artists, writers could potentially have the power that investors have on STEEM.
That is the best case scenario for them. The worse case scenario is that Whaleshares could just wither away.

I dont think i will be powering down. Not because i dont think whaleshares will succeed, but rather because im just too scared to do so :D . Actually powered up a 190 STEEM today.

But that proposition is attractive. It really is.
Once you are able to powerdown on Whaleshares to a higher degree the price will eventually fall i think. But even if it drops to couple cents, the creators that are now self-sustaining and arent dependent on whales, even then, i still think they will remain on the platform and work hard for it to succeed.
It will be a very interesting thing to observe.

If Whaleshares makes something of itself, being an early adopter could really make a difference for a content creator. It could make all the difference. And as i said in the last post...
What you create, really is secondary to the stake and position you find yourself in on platforms like Whaleshares and Steemit.

And whaleshares seems to be offering a very good starting position for anyone that believes in its success.

Do you guys believe it will succeed? Let me know :D

The interface looks just like Steemit. Are they trying to make Steemians welcome by having zero learning curve? It's always worth a look at what else is out there, thanks.

The interface is Steemit. Whalshares is running HF19 of the Steem blockchain I believe, so it's pretty much a clone (without some features).

I know. Its just that it offers a chance to those creators on STEEM that entered the platform late and "missed the train" an opportunity to be the whales they arent here.
Some people i thought are for STEEM long term are powering down and moving STEEM to Whaleshares.

Interesting. I didn't even realise you could do that. Is WLS trading already for them to be able to move money into Whaleshares?

Yes its trading on Rudex. I think the price is 1WLS for 2 BTS. But i think there are other ways to get votes as well.

I have a horrible vision of BitConnect and DavorCoin in my mind... shudder

Who can say. But if Whaleshares has the same economic system in place as Steem, i dont think it can go the route of Bitconnect.

That might be just one thing about it. Apparently they did change a few things. I think there are no bots there because you cant delegate. Im not sure what else. But i see a lot of people powering down, musicians ive known for a long time and moving their steem to Whaleshares.
They wont stop creating here, i dont think, but if you move your money to another place then you must be seeing that other place as a better investment for you. And i dont think people selling their stake is a good thing for steem.

I am on Whaleshares too, but I don't feel compelled to leave Steemit because of that. In the future, we'll probably have more such forks and eventually they could 'specialize' for some particular content.
Right now, Whaleshares is probably a better place for crypto-related content (especially BTS and EOS). No surprise there, cause WLS was initially sharedropped on BTS holders. Other forks will probably target someone else though. Crypto will progress.

I'm not sure whether it will succeed or not. I have just powered up 300 Steem myself here, so who knows how things will turn out.

I love both of the platforms. I really don't think I will leave Steemit any time soon I have 50 consecutive weeks in the "open mic" and I really enjoy the people of Steemit. I am powering down, not to move my petty 163.00 or so dollars to Whaleshares that would be crazy. My Whaleshares account is worth 10 times that from posting, commenting and curating, not buying my way in. If I want to buy back into Steemit I can do that at any time. I've been here almost a year and at best, all I could give somebody was a penny upvote. Best wishes to everyone on both platforms.. Have a great week ;9) PS I really dislike the bots on Steemit.

Interesting topic @silentscreamer

May I ask you one question? aren't you considering yourself early adopter on Steemit? I honestly think we're still at that early adopting stage
