What is Your Life's Purpose?

in #whaleshares6 years ago

We all want the best things in our lives, in our family,
at work, and in every little thing that we do.
Since ancient times, men have gone through extraordinary feats
in our quest for purpose and a life of meaning.
Yet somehow, everything is still vague.
Most people can’t seem to find good answers to this question.
“Why are you alive in this world?”

Allow me to show you some principles for a purposeful and satisfying life,
hoping to encourage each one of you to practice
and develop this in your lives.
Don't be satisfied with B-grade living,
when you can have the best things that life has to offer.

I. Questions and Answers.

Our tomorrows are not guaranteed, we are but a puff of smoke
that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
So to live life abundantly, you must get your asks and your answers right.

Imagine I offered you a million pesos to deliver a message to John early in the morning.
Your first thought would probably be, "What's the best way for me to get to John’s place?” You would not, for example, say “I wonder if John likes to drink coffee in the morning.”
You would need to ask the right question, and get the right answer quickly.

Why are you alive in this world?
How can you achieve your life's purpose?

We always hear that we should always follow the Golden Rule,
which says "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. "
But the problem with this is that it assumes
that other people wants to be treated the same way you want to be treated.
Instead, learn to practice the Platinum Rule,
"Treat others the way they want to be treated."
See the difference?
The Golden Rule focuses on what you want,
whereas the Platinum Rule focuses on the needs of the people around you.

II. Attitude.

I’m sure we would all agree that the right attitude towards life
and its problems is of the utmost importance.
There is a tale about these two shoe salesmen who travel
to a third world country in search of new business opportunities.

One man calls his wife the moment he lands, telling her, “Honey, I’m coming back home. There’s no hope here. Nobody here is wearing shoes, so there’s no one to sell to.” He boards the next flight home. The second man calls his wife and says, “Honey, you wouldn’t believe what I found here. There is so much opportunity. No one here is wearing shoes. I can sell to the whole country!”
The attitudes made all the difference.

The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. – Winston Churchill
Do you consider yourself a positive person?
It is very easy to remain positive with things are going according to plan
and when we feel blessed.
But we are bombarded with so much negativity each day in our lives.
Sure, we can blame the people around us,
but in most cases negativity is self-inflicted.
How you handle unexpected setbacks and difficulties demonstrate
what kind of an attitude you really have.
So make sure that it is a good one!

III. Anticipation and Hope

There was this story:

Imagine you hear strange noises underground in your backyard. When you went down to investigate, you find, to your surprise, a gentleman digging a tunnel. When you ask him where he is digging the tunnel to, or what is he hoping to find, he says, "I don’t know mate, I'm just digging a tunnel." He would have to be a sad case, this gentleman. If he were hoping to find something, a gold perhaps, or to dig a hideout, if he had some expectation, you could perhaps think him sane. But if he anticipates nothing in digging this tunnel, why does he dig it?

Next to attitude, expectations go a long way to giving quality to life.
Have hope and believe you are getting somewhere
and achieving something worthwhile.
Whether you live in glorious hope or futile hopelessness
is totally up to you.

What is your hope?
Why did you ever wake up in the morning?
Why do you do the things you do?

Know your "why".
Find out our life's purpose.
And work hard to achieve it.
