Home Tips #10 – Home Sweet Home!
LEATHER CLEANER & POLISH:
1.Leather Cleaner
10 drops tea tree oil
Mix in a spray bottle and shake well before each use.
Wipe off with a soft damp cloth.
2.Leather Polish
Use a soft dry cloth to remove any loose dirt or dust.
Rub in a small amount of coconut oil, using a circular motion.
Buff with a soft, dry cloth until you have a healthy shine.
LAUNDRY
1.Laundry detergent
Skin irritations caused by detergents often occur because of residue that is left on your clothes, not to mention the fact that it clogs up the washing machine pipes as well as being a pollutant for the environment. Use this inexpensive alternative instead. Vinegar and salt have strong antibacterial properties and remove stains as well as odours from the washing.
• ½ cup of white vinegar
• 2 tsp. of salt
• Mix together.
This is sufficient for a normal sized load. It may be easier if you find a 1 to 1 ½ liter bottle and premix a whole batch.
2. Fabric Softener
Place the Epsom salts in a container with a tight-fitting lid and add the essential oil. Mix well and then add the baking soda. Mix once more and seal your container.
Use 2 – 3 Tbsp. per load of wash:
2 cups of Epsom salt or coarse sea salt
½ cup of baking soda
20-30 drops of essential oil (lemon, lavender, rose or another of your choice)
3.Prevent colour running
When purchasing a new item of clothing there is always uncertainty about whether or not the colours will run. In order to ensure this does not happen, place the item into a saltwater solution. Use approximately 2 handfuls of salt to 4.5 liters of water. Allow the garment to soak for 24 hours. Rinse and dry.

I am offering a safe and natural alternative to conventional treatment, but these recipes, ideas and treatment should not be misconstrued or substituted for medical advice. Please always proceed with caution and test it first on a small area, or in small quantities, if you are uncertain. Should you suspect that you or your animal have a medical problem, I urge you to seek professional advice.
I love this idea, but will just vinegar and salt really be enough to wash clothes?
