So when did Weku happen?
Well this place looks exactly like a Steemit clone!
Weku is a new(?) social media/blogging site. It's basically Steemit with a different name. Honestly, just copy/paste your settings to get your profile up and running. Everything looks exactly the same, except for the name.
I stumbled upon this place through @papa-pepper's post about how his (and many others) username was already taken, so he couldn't sign up for that site with his regular name. What a shame that someone stole his name! Very rude.
So I went straight ahead and signed up to be sure to claim my name, after which I took a look around. This really is a Steemit clone, so I'm not sure how much else I can say about it. The name and currency is different and that's about it.

I'm not sure what to think about this new Steemit clone yet to be honest. I don't know if/how I'll use it. Maybe just copy/paste my articles from here to there aswell? Or write some original content? Or I might just forget about it.
Looking around on Steemit, many people seem to be joining already, hoping to be the new early adopters when they missed that boat here on Steemit.

Ik heb geen idee! Je kan op 'about weku' wel e.e.a. teruglezen, maar ik weet nog niet precies hoe dit is ontstaan. Heb er nog te weinig kennis van, maar ik wilde wel alvast mijn naam claimen.

But I was saying it seems there is a lot of clones. Hard to get momentum unless there is someone behind it who will promote it.
I completely agree with you there! Weku has referral links, but I'm not sure what the rewards are to be honest. I haven't seen any come my way (or anyone else's for that matter).
Yes for sure. People would be better off putting time into making steemit work rather than fracturing the support base.

Yes. But that is just price related I think. Once the price rebounds people will be back and complaining how little steem per post they get.

It literally is a complete copy of Steemit, is that allowed? Either way you scared me enough to go and claim my name before and anyone else did lol. I used your referral link and am following you there too :D
I don't really know if that's allowed! They do mention it in their whitepaper and there is some part of open sourceness going on with Steemit, but I don't really know enough about things like these to give a good answer.
Can't hurt to claim your name at the very least, right? Before someone tries to abuse it! I'll head over there to give you a follow back :D
Yeah very true, what harm can it do and thank you very much :D I am not sure whether I should back up a few posts and posts more than once or day or would that be annoying. I'll give it a go anyway.

There are more? Honestly this is the first I really know of I think... well there's the Russian Golos thingy too, but that's about as far as my knowledge goes. To be fair though, I do miss a lot.
Not exactly Steemit clones but some based on same tech or EOS - what you miss a lot?
EOS kind of went off my radar. People told me there would be a social media-ish thing build on EOS, but is that live yet?
I miss a lot of crypto news in general. I'm all over the place lately, so I don't really take enough time to read up on things.
I hear you - the EOS Steemit 2.0 which might come or only rumours seems not been created yet. There is a platform called Trybe on EOS, ONO also intended to run on EOS but now a bit different, Whaleshares is live since last week I think (Steemit clone one can say).
The only real fun one is Scorum which is sports media blogging - there you have a team that is "doing" sth and listens to the community, very nice but maybe the secret for future success - but who knows.
Hmm, claimed my name on Trybe, though I don't think it's the platform for me. I hadn't heard about Whaleshares before, but I see they don't have open signups yet.
Scorum sounds great for the sports fans! I'll skip that one myself ;-)

This is the first I've heard of this @playfulfoodie but I don't think I've got the interest or energy to start from scratch with something so similar, when my focus here is waning.
I need new things to draw me in and this sounds like too much of the same. If you do post there though I will be interested to hear how you get on.

Yeah, I understand that. I don't know how much time I'll spend on there either. Probably the most I will do is copy/paste my Steemit articles onto that site to spread my reach.

I used your referral link to sign up. I haven't checked it out quite yet. I might do like you, or just not use it at all, but at least no one can take my name. I've got the same one as here, so there's that. I'll have to explore it a bit, and learn more about it before I start using it.

Found you! It was really easy to 'put some clothes' onto my account, just copy/paste my Steemit settings to the Weku ones. The ease of a clone site.
Yeah, I just have to dedicate some time to do it :D
