Illinois Taking Baby Steps Toward Legalization
We are already seeing signs even in our small town that CBD products are for sale - something unheard of in the recent past. I did a recent #seven77 video in front of this banner advertising CBD.
This is a quote from Illinois governor Pritzker:
“Illinois is poised to become the first state in the nation that put equity and criminal justice reform at the heart of its approach to legalizing cannabis, and I’m grateful that the Senate has taken this important step with a bipartisan vote."
On May 31 the Senate approved the legislation and after the Governor signs it, it will be effective on January 1, 2020, which will make Illinois the 11th state to legalize recreational marijuana. It's also the first state to do this by legislation rather than a ballot election.
