This time I decided to walk around the district built after WWII, in 1950-60-es. I took 200+ pictures and stuck with them, it really didnt fit a single post, and I never was able to write the proper story matching the content, well, at least in time. I should learn to set realistic, achievable goals ....

Ok: here I began. You see a four-story yellow living house built by German prisoners of WW2, in the tradition of the 30s. On the left - a typical building of the Stalin era, with follies (see below), built in 50s. The product of 2010s is in the background. All the quarter consists of Stalin era buildings, with several later additions to the mix. It is bounded by еру streets: Kuznetsovskaya, Sveaborgskaya, Blagodatnaya. Location: St.Petersburg, Russia.

It could be a ventilation hole / vent for the subway, but this is not it. I strongly believe this is a ventilation shaft of a house bomb shelter in a basement, built as a complex within the houses.

These buildings are completely alien to the modern style of life and reject it. All shops selling fast food and Chinese shit look so rediculous in these interiors. These houses probably will survive all these one-day shops... its 70 years after they were created, they still stay firmly, but some decorative parts, alas, are already falling off. Moreover, attempts to repair with modern means, in the modern spirit, usually look very pitiful and lead to such consequences. It is better not to touch, the noble decline looks more beautiful ... All of this post could be about the the decay... it is my point of view on this.

Feel the difference: same camera, same cats, same spot, same settings, same everything -- except of the lightning (cause its round the corner) -- but so much difference. Note yourself, how much does it matter. Actually, you can go shoot the light only -- and bring back some great results.

The territory is pretty green, trees, flowers are all around -- I just dont shoot them.

One of the houses had this inscription on it: "inventory number is ...". Very funny thing! I cant believe it is the house, that being accounted and had an inventory number. But I have no other assumptions... In the yard of this house I've acquainted with the Local Overseer. He was polite and interrupted his important business to greet me ... after which he returned to his business (laying, licking his skin ... and overseeing).

Here a funny thing happened. I was approached with a dude who wanted to get a free photo. He asked if I am Pro, and complained he never looks “well” in photos. I helped him; hope he will not be disenchanted. But the impression of his face on most of the pics, uhm... I totally understood now his problem :P

Check the old original view / decoration of the window, and the 'better', plastic, undecorated new ones.

Here I discovered sort of a stash, untouched from the 90-es. Some paper from 90-es (i.e. it is 30 years old!). And I found an old coin, dated as 199! (This version is not in the circulation any more).

I borrowed 1Gb CF card with me, and it run out pretty soon. I put the camera away after this shot... but then I had to take it again! I erased some shots like 4 times, to take a new ones :P

A small exercise in composition. I think I nailed it!
Look up, and you will see the house has even a small gargoyles on the roof!

Ok, and now the last one: creativity as it is. Somebody coloured the paper with watercolours, and cut out these pieces to match the decorations on the wall. Looked like so cool that I simply had to stop and get my camera back to action, again...
