I’m so excited that my wife has found a great new hobby! She’s been a bit slower to adopt some of the homesteading and rural living since I plucked her from the big city. I often here how there are too much bugs outside or just how hard and time consuming most things are to do.

She’s dabbled in painting, hydroponics and baking but those hobbies haven’t seamed to stick.

But so far she is really into weaving!

I’m told this is called a Rigid Heddle loom, and she went with the extra big one. This thing was expensive and imported from New Zealand of all places.

It seams to take quite a long time to get it all set up and stretch the yard along the long plain in what I believe is called the weft.

After this step is when I need to help, holding some tension while she wraps it all up nicely.

We’ve had this thing set up for just over a month now and she tries to spend a few hours nightly weaving away. It does seam very rhythmic and soothing, I can really see it being quite peaceful really.

Her second project was a few small section she tested out some different techniques. Some will be tea towels and others where given to the kids to use as little blankets for there stuffed animals. It’s so cute to see just how excited they were to have these.
