Monster Northeast Snowstorm Tuesday?

Well, just when when you thought you were safe. It's Almost halfway through March, the tulips are sprouting, March Madness is starting, its spring, right? But wait....according to the weather channel, " Warnings issued for paralyzing blizzard; Big snowfall imminent" ! Winter storm Stella, purported to be a "Nor'easter" storm, is on its way, due to unleash apparent blizzard conditions on our unsuspecting little heads.

So, just what the heck is a Nor'easter anyway? NOAA .gov defines it as " A storm along the East coast of North America, so called because the winds over the coastal area are typically from the northeast. Apparently, this area of the country is prone to these storms due to the fact that relatively warm air over the Atlantic Ocean meets a colder front of Arctic air from Canada, trapping a low pressure system off of the East Coast between New York and New England, and dropping tons of moisture in the form of rain, or snow. Great.

Now, we all know weather prediction is not an exact science. Where will the most snow fall? Will it be as bad as they say? New York mayor Bill De blasio has been tweeting for New Yorkers to be well prepared for "something worse than we have seen before" . Yikes, sounds ominous. The weather channel is quoting snow amounts for most of the Northeast to be in the 12-18 inch range. My back hurts already at the thought of shoveling it. With a large storm, electric power can easily be lost, that is the worst part for most of us.
So, be prepared fellow Northeasterners, think about what you would eat, and how you would stay warm without power, stay off the roads if possible, and may we all be safe and sound!
