Post-9/11 Wars Cost the U.S. Nearly $6 Trillion ($14 Trillion with Interest)steemCreated with Sketch.

The cost of post-9/11 wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere has amounted to $5.9 trillion so far, according to the annual analysis from the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University. Their amount looks at all war-related expensive and therefore exceeds Pentagon estimates. This includes "the Pentagon’s war fund, related spending at the State Department, veterans care and interest payments".

Speaking of promises of quick and cheap wars that were promised, study author Neta Crawford said we instead have the opposite:

"We were told to expect wars that would be quick, cheap, effective and beneficial to the U.S. interest. Because we finance these wars on a credit card, the costs of the wars themselves pose a national security challenge."

The estimated costs for the war-related spending is $4.9 trillion ending in fiscal year 2019. Veterans care projected to 2059 is another $1 trillion brings the total to $5.9 trillion. If the war trend of the past 17 years continues into 2023, the cost will be over $6.7 trillion.

The Pentagon however, has only pegged the total cost for wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria at $1.5 trillion. That's quite a stark contrast. The Watson analysis has $1.8 for Afghanistan and Iraq from the Pentagon and State Department war funds alone. Iraq cost $822 billion, and Afghanistan $975 billion. Syria has cost $54 billion and Pakistan $10 billion. The homeland security mission known as Operation Noble Eagle has cost $24 billion. And war funds for Africa and Europe are at $137 billion.

Senate Armed Services Committee ranking member Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) said:

"It’s important for the American people to understand the true costs of war, both the moral and monetary costs."

The monetary cost is indeed high, but so too is the cost of life in this 17 year ongoing war across the Middle East. The death toll from military operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan are between 480,000 and 507,000.

Source

This is for everyone killed, but civilians are the most affected and represented, with over 244,000 killed as a result of these wars. Over 10 million war refugees have been created from the three wars.

The minimum of 480,000 killed is from "direct war violence", with "several times as many indirectly". The 240,000 civilians is also only from the direct war efforts. There are multiple more civilians that died "indirectly in these wars, due to malnutrition, damaged infrastructure, and environmental degradation". It's probably over 1,000,000 dead as a result of these 3 or 4 wars wars.

In contrast, 6,800 U.S. soldiers have died in these wars. The cost of war to the U.S. pales in comparison to the cost of war the Middle East has had to suffer at their hands. The U.S. continues to engage in "counterterror activities in 76 countries, vastly expanding the counterror war across the globe". The military-industrial complex is all the while profiting, as "reconstruction efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan has totaled over $170 billion"

The cost of the wars will continue to mount, both economically and immorally. While the warring in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria totals $5.6 trillion, the interest alone "will add an estimated $8 trillion through 2054". That's $14 trillion over the course of trying to repay the debt and the compound interest that keeps building up.

It's great being debt slaves, having taxes imposed on us to pay for borrowed money at interest that gets used to kill people in far away places. What a great system we have going on here...

The cost of war is high indeed, and it seems to be ramping up as my recent posts indicate:

It appears the U.S. and allies are responsible for killing millions of people in the ongoing 17 year war in the Middle East. War is money and that's why it will keep going on and on it seems...

War is money
Widows weep
Bombs and rockets
Don’t come cheap

War is money
Napalm glows
It also lights up
A portfolio

War is money
Children die
Oh, what comfort
Blood can buy

War is money
War is power
Should have listened
To Eisenhower

$6 Trillion is GROSSLY UNDERSTATED.

There is documentary evidence that adds more HUGE tranches in the trillions:

1) + $6.5 Trillion:

ArmstrongEconomics.com: Defense Department Missing $6.5 Trillion up from $2.3 Trillion in 2001 (i.e., what Donald Rumsfeld had confirmed on Sept. 10, 2001), https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/world-news/taxes/defense-department-missing-6-5-trillion-up-from-2-3-trillion-in-2001/

Additional Reference: WND EXCLUSIVE
$6.5 TRILLION MISSING FROM DEFENSE DEPARTMENT

2) + another $10 Trillion (estimated):

People always forget that it has been proven that as of to 2017 another $21 Trillion dollars is missing from the US government, specifically from the Department of Defense (DOD) & Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Now, while I don't have the exact breakdown between the DOD and HUD, you can still see that there is easily $10 Trillion attributable to DOD missing funds. But probably the figure is north of $15T. But let's keep the estimate of an addition $10 Trillion of spend (or lost) money by the Military.

I have also documented these figures along with qualitative data in my post The US Government Lost $1.2 Trillion In 2017 + $250 million per day since September 11, 2001.

So, to sum up at least what is documented with evidence:

$22.5 Trillion

($6 Trillion + $6.5 Trillion + $10 Trillion)

So let's put a more real perspective on things.

Damn... that is pretty nuts. I forgot about the Rumsfeld missing $2. trillion on Sept 10, 2001. Nice distraction the next day for people to forget about that money... :/ I didn't know about the rest. Thanks! Interest payments on $22.5 trillion must get near $50 trillion over the next 30 years... youch. Unpayable debt... crash... world economic crisis looming...

Indeed. The currency has now gone vertical, if you know what I mean. Watch our fellow Canadian Rob Kirby explaining this (along with some big ass ugly skeleton monsters the Fed has lurking in the dark):

BTW, love your daily posts and think you bring out amazing contents day in and day out. Bravo! A short while back re your post on human trafficking in Montreal, it seems that you are also a native of the city from La Belle Province? You still live there? I am in China since 2008. (and miss poutine like crazy!)

It's insane how tilted the casualties are between the aggressors and the victims. Just as insane the amount of pretend money they say we owe for it. Hoping in the near future that people wake up and remember that possession is 9/10ths of the law and those pushing this to get more IOU's out of the farm are told to go F themselves as they are chased from the farm.

I totally agree.
The problem with 'chasing them from the farm' is the price people have to voluntarily pay for that choice.

Life is harder 'out of the system', (designed that way of course) , and while people just talk about it, with a comfortable life, and still contributing into the system while complaining - but not put themselves into real hardship - the powers that be will keep the system going...
They don't mind you whining, as long as the payments keep coming..

( I settled that bill collection system, years ago, but it's not easy - and there is a price to pay. If I had a family and kids? I'm not sure that I'd do it, in all honesty.)

Save up and build small and expand as you get more money. Debt is shit and only feeds the interest money-grubbers indeed.

both my curse - and my blessing (it goes both ways)...

I work my best when 'I'm against the wall' (ie lazy).

Because I truly do not value money, (and a 'non secure life' makes me feel alive) it's very hard to build (I have been downsizing continually from my 'ambition /success days'...)

Differred gratification is always touted as an IQ indicator - but is definitely not true in my case.

I think people have an inbuilt (for whatever reason), 'time fractals' that are applicable only to oneself, and if you work within your own personal fractal, you're happy - and if you don't you're miserable...

I have 'changed' my natural timefractal many ties - especially when I was doing business - but always found myself unhappy.
When I live by the seat of my pants, it may not be for most people , but that's where I'm 'in the zone' in all kinds of ways.
(emotionally happier, more creative, blah, blah)

'Feeling alive' dissipates - in direct correlation to NOT living in the moment - in my opinion (for me, anyways)

Hence the blessing and the curse, because while I'm fully aware of all the options, and have the 'talent' to apply myself to most things - The pesky innate personal time fractal hypothesis, still bears out...
Definitely blessing and curse...

Yeah, it's a travesty. Then you have all the die hard faketriots who moan about lost soldiers and ignore the 1,000x larger innocent lives taken by those soldiers who are fighting unjust wars...if any wars can be called just anyways... A big crash is coming down the pipe :/

Just imagine the transformation of the world if there were no wars at all. The amount of money and resources spent on defence by every nation is humongous. If we put all that money to a good cause like finding cheaper alternatives flto non renewable resources, fighting air pollution, global warming etc. human life on earth would be much better. Wars are mostly lose-lose situations in which one of them loses slightly lesser than the other.

Exactly. As Buckminster Fuller has said, we need to move from spending on weaponry to livingry, and the world would be transformed for the better so quickly!

One of the things that bothers me about all of this is why does nobody really care? Or do they? Does 90%+ of the population give a shit about how much funding is going into the military and how little is going eleswhere or for anything beneficial? Me and my friend were talking about this earlier today. Everyone is so MKultra’d it just bounces off of their heads. Just like all of the pedogate stuff that’s been exposed for years and years and no1 cares :(

90% are brain dead, unfortunately my friend.

Yes, it is sad but true! I have spent many hours trying to wake some people up but I am fed up of getting that totally “blank” look back at me. I’m sure you know what I mean!

If you are using 'actions' and not words as the metric of caring , the anyone in debt is activley contributing to the system we have.

It's tough choosing not to contribute.
I mean, really tough.

That is a very good point. I meant caring in terms of thinking about these major issues that seem to be swept under the carpet due to mainstream media outlets. But you make a very good point, we are all contributing to the system and playing their game. Even by purchasing products and fuel etc... you are right, it is really tough to fully not contribute

I meant caring in terms of thinking about these major issues that seem to be swept under the carpet due to mainstream media outlets

ah, but there's the rub - If you were to care about these issues, it would - ultimately - mean facing yourself in the mirror - and most people don't want to do that...

Even by purchasing products and fuel etc... you are right, it is really tough to fully not contribute..

income tax, not sales tax , is the biggie. ...taxed for your labor.imo.

People are too absorbed in their enjoyment of life in between their survival of life, no time to care about things beyond their little bubble of reality :/ They don't want to make the time.
