Wafrica Sunday Post-Of-The-Week Winners for week #2

in #wafrica6 years ago

Did you know that the word Guinea (Guinée in french) comes from the berber term "akal-n-iguinaouen" which means "country of the black men". This is why in the past, Africa was called "Guinea".

I am @lordjames and I'm glad to present our second WAFRICA SUNDAY POSTS OF THE WEEK results. This week's result covers from 1st - 8th April, 2018 (19:00Hrs GMT). At the time of writing this post, we had a total of 5611 posts made on the #wafrica tags in the last two weeks representing about 17posts/hour round the clock. That's a lot of contents you guys do put out there and as usual, a couple of posts have received upvotes from curation guilds like Curie. That's to show the quality of contents that filled the #wafrica tag.

Post-Of-The-Week #1: 5SBD

Sharpen Your Axe by @nexrules.

Comment by @lordjames: At a time when we have so much options and choices to make at any given moment, getting the right tools to boost our productivity becomes a necessity. @Nexrules used a fictional story of a woodcutter (Ubuntu) to share some thoughts on increasing human productivity by sharpening the skills we have. It is a great read and you will get to know the meaning of an 'AXE' as it relates to human productivity, so I will ask you to take a look by clicking the link here.

Post-Of-The-Week #2: 3SBD

@Collinz took the prize for this with his post titled Oh! Africa.

@collinz argued on many issues which still cripple the African Nation from utilizing her resources in full. He mentioned the roles abuse of power by leaders and ignorance by the citizens plays in the current problem. He proposed education and unity as necessary in building the continent to greater heights and ended the post with a call to everyone to play their part in ensuring the development of the continent. I would love to see him talk about disruption through technology like blockchain and how this will fasten development in Africa.

Post-Of-The-Week #3

The third prize winner for this week is a story titled A Day In The Life Of An African Boy by @awesome-p

@awesome-p gives us an insight into the everyday life of a typical Yoruba community. Personally, I have never lived in the Yorubaland but through this post have learned a few things about the people of Western Nigeria. This includes items like gangan, sekere, adun and other terms like Olontoro, Suku and Iya Ibeyi. We hope to hear more stories from other members of the community about their cultures and practices.

Thank you to everyone who contributed a post or two to the #wafrica tags. We expect more creative contents from you in arts, histories, fictional stories, poems, cultures, food and just about everything you want to present to the world.

Remember:

For your post to be curated by @wafrica you must use #wafrica among your tags, follow @wafrica and your post must contain at least 300 characters with a minimum of 1 image (properly sourced).
