Videographer Jan Fröjdman used real photos from anaglyph images of Mars taken by HiRISE as reference points to create a virtual model of the planet. The result is an amazing view of Mars, seen as never before. The HiRISE camera holds data about the topography of the Martian surface. With an enormous database of images, a highly detailed map can be assembled.

"There is a feeling that you are flying above Mars looking down watching interesting locations on the planet." - Jan Fröjdman

Jan had to manually hand-pick each of the reference images, in a total account of 33 000 points! The 4-minute video took him 3 months to complete. Looking now at the result, I think it was totally worth it. The film is also available in 2k resolution, allowing to see more details and features of Mars. Although the film is not really scientific, it's a feast for the eyes for any space enthusiast.
