Crypto Highlight: VertCoin (VTC) - The People's Coin

What is Vertcoin?
Vertcoin is often referred to as a Bitcoin brother, as it's based on code very similar to that of Bitcoin (like Litecoin). However, there are many key differences that make it, according to its developers, even more decentralized, leading it to be referred to often as, "the people's coin."
Block and Coin Information
There are a total of 84 million VTCs, which is four times larger than Bitcoin's coin cap. Additionally, it's block time or block cap is 2.5 minutes, meaning transactions can get confirmed much faster than other coins. It's mining difficulty resets every block, helping maintain decentralization.
The average transaction fee is less than $0.002 USD due to VertCoin's low-gap blocks, and SegWit activation.
Decentralized Mining
Bitcoin uses the SHA-256 algorithm for its Proof of Work mining. However, many developers and manufacturers have figured out how to create ASICs to target this algorithm. ASICs are special types of computers that are designed to be extremely good at just one thing.
A Bitcoin miner ASIC is incredibly good at Bitcoin mining, but isn't useful for anything else. However, this can lead to unhealthy centralization and large pools in cryptocurrency mining.
VertCoin, however, uses the Lyra2RE(v2) algorithm. The VTC algorithm is ASIC-resistant, meaning it's incredibly hard to develop ASICs to make it easier to mine with it. The algorithm is meant to be mined with regular computer GPUs, like the ones on normal desktops and laptops.
Technically Competent
VertCoin is also arguably as technically competent as bigger cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Litecoin.
VertCoin has already activated Segregated Witness (SegWit) on it's network, and a lightning network is currently in development.
VertCoin even has Stealth Addresses (for increased privacy) in development, and has launched a beta of something called a One-Click Miner. VTC's One-Click Miner allows its users to instantly begin mining with their computer in just one click, with no hassles in the way.
Where can I buy VertCoin?
Currently, the biggest exchanges to buy VTC are Bittrex and Poloniex, though if you want an instant conversion without registering an account, you can use ShapeShift.
Many are predicting that VertCoin will go through a massive surge soon, as developers and activity increases on the blockchain. VTC, in essence, is a really nice cryptocurrency, with active development and great features.
High Price Potential
VTC currently trades at over $5.41, and has been steadily climbing from the beginning of the year, as you can see below.
With a market cap of over $220 million, many think VertCoin is getting closer to a massive surge and increase in price.
Conclusions
In the end, VertCoin (VTC) is a very competent cryptocurrency, boasting higher decentralization (through ASIC-resistance) and lower transaction fees compared to other ones.
Impressively, VertCoin has seen little to no controversy and lots of users love using VertCoin. Its developers are extremely active and are constantly updating it with new features, and VTC was one of the first to activate SegWit.

The People's Coin has been on a tear. It reminds me of the LTC boom months earlier. Feeling pretty good buying in the $.80 range. Lets go VTC! They also have their 1st halving coming up in December, that should help raise the price as future reward supply will be lowered.
