Alberta had a difficult choice for her time. She chose her happiness, and in my opinion, rightly so, but will she be able to cope with guilt and new challenges? By making her choice, she has probably ruined her relationship with her family.
Thank you. Good observation. She was caught between duty and emotion. A tough place to be in but one that we also find ourselves in from to time to time. If the abuse was too much and Pierre remained in the same pattern she was justified in leaving him. The family would have to adjust. Money isn't everything. Dominique's family would fill the emptiness. If there were children her family's hearts would soften out of a desire to accept the grandchildren. There were no offspring with Pierre. Following the dictates of the heart is where the drama begins. The heart is the seat of emotions. These things are very much in my consciousness as I try to navigate this life.
