For many users, the main reason they are on steemit is to make money, few want to publicize their talents to the world, when they hear that you can be paid for writing quality articles and have greater exposure, they all throng in.

Unfortunately, little success, profits, and exposure from their posts weighed them down, having doubts about the system. Some leave, while others forge ahead.

Little did they know that they could be rewarded, and have a reputation for contributing to open source project via the utopian.io platform built on the Steem blockchain. As popular as utopian.io may be, some users have not heard about it and its functions.

Introducing Utopian.io

Utopian is the brainchild of @elear as seen in this post here. Utopian rewards open source contributors. When you contribute to open source projects, you are rewarded. The rewards is a form of incentives for the user.

What is Open source

Open source is something that is publicly available and can be modified, used in any way deemed fit without restrictions. It is usually associated with softwares, programs etc. Source

Utopian Functions

Like I said above, Utopian rewards open source contributors. Many questions will be going through your head like how. Do I just post and get my rewards and so on.

There are currently 11 active categories on the Utopian platform with 1 category Translation paused.

The categories includes

Many would have thought utopian is only for programmers, it is not for me. Utopian is for all, you can contributions in the suggestions category where you just suggest an idea to be implemented in your favorite open source application or make a visibility post where you can help spread the news about your favorite open source application and its functionalities.

For the tech geeks, coders, programmers, you can dive into the development category where you write about the open source project you have created or that you helped in some respect. This shows that from the non-tech geek to the tech-geek Utopian is for you all.

Moderators

It is said that anything goes by in a lawless country. Utopian have rules and there are people that check if contributors follows the rules. They are called Utopian Moderators. They are to check if a particular contribution follows the rules and act accordingly. They can be found here

Investors

You don’t have the time to contribute to open source projects but you wish to help the utopian cause. You love the utopian cause and want to support it. You can do that while earning a decent amount based on your delegated share. You can visit here to learn more.

Project owners

You are a project owner looking for contributors for your project. Utopian is for you. You can visit here where on registering. You can create your task request about what you want for your project. Be rest assured the contributors will come. You also earn some token for this.

This coupled with other functions like the scoring system which engages the moderators, community and the project owners makes utopian the site to be on the Steem blockchain.
