Description
Learn the functionality of the AS ADSR
ADSR refers to Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release. These are the four fundamental tools we use to synthesis sound. These four variables allow us to shape sound into a usable form. ADSR is not hard to use and with a little practice you will be able to master how to shape unique sounds. To understand ADSR it may be helpful to think of sound as in three stages in a piano sound: When the key is struck, the time until the key is released, and after the key is released. In this tutorial I show how to use AS' ADSR module to shape a sine wave.

Learn how to use the Attack function
Attack is the very beginning of a sound. On a piano this would be the instant that a key is hit. Attack can be instant like a snare drum or as slow as a gong. Adjusting the Attack adjusts how the note will start.

Learn how to use the Decay function
Decay and Sustain are closely related. Decay is the time it take for a note to fade to it's minimum volume level while a note or key is being held.

Learn how to use the Sustain function
Sustain refers to how much the sound fades away while a note or key is being held.

Learn how to use the Release function
Release is how long it takes for a note to fade away to silence after a note has been released.

VCV Rack is an open source application, which means that it is free for everyone to use. Please consider going to the developers' website and show your support for the project - http://www.vcvrack.com
