Addition of Backup, Fork, Project Support and Advanced Search for Repositories by Commit, Wikis and Users.

Components

OctoDroid is an open source client foe GitHub. It gives us access to GitHub and helps to stay connected with our networks. This client is useful for following git repositories and top users in GitHub. It however lacks some features and this suggestion is proposed for addition of some of the missing features.

Proposal

In this Suggestion I am proposing addition of various features which are of need to the users. These features are stated and explained below.

1. Backup

The option for backing up the data of the application is needed, this will help to save the work with this platform and we can restore it whenever we are in need of it. Backup is an important feature for the highly used repositories.

2. Fork

The important reasons the apps for the Github are used is fast access and the creation or cloning of the existing repositories. This app fails to give users an option to fork a repository. There is a proper need to add an option for forking the repository with this app. Fork option should be added.

3. Project Status

This is an important feature for continuous tracking down of the progress related to work. This can also help us to prioritize the type of the job we want to perform first. We can configure this feature to know about the pull requests, issues, commits related to the project and to know the total progress of the specific task that has been performed.

4. COMMITS

The search of repository cant be only about the name or the update of the repository. It has to be more advanced. This leads way to sorting of the repository on the basis of the commits last made or authored by. We can use this filter to sort repository on the basis of recent commits or least commits made or the time when it was authored.

5. WIKIS

The sorting of the repositories can be based on the database which includes various Git Repositories. Repositories can be linked to similar database with the function of being sorted by the user on the basis of the recent update of the wiki or not so recently updated wikis.

6. USERS

Search for the repository on the basis of the users. Different users have different followers. So we can sort repository of a user on the basis of his followers or how many people like to follow him. This gives us an advantage for quick search of the repository which is associated with a specific or a famous user. This feature can be included.

The example of the addition of the features is given with the help of an image. The image will show the addition proposal of features mentioned in above section.

Benefits

For overshadowing various other GitHub clients the improvement in the working of the app based on the addition of some new features which have already been explained. For the data to be safe and the work we have done to safe we need backup option to save our job that we have performed with the interface and is always of higher benefits with multiple storage levels. Fork is again something without which the GitHub job is incomplete and the addition of feature for creation of the repository will give this app a boost as more users will switch to this interface. Project Status will help to know the status of the specific or important jobs which are assigned. Advancement in the search fields of the repository is highly beneficial for quick access to the specific repository. Users have shown more inclination towards advancement of the search options.
