Steeditor: Editor freezes when I try to open posts from a specific app

in #utopian-io6 years ago

Project Information

Expected behavior

When trying to edit a post from my blog using the steeditor app, there shouldn't be issues with some posts due to its json metadata.

Actual behavior

If I try to open a post from Actifit app specifically, the editor freezes and I can't use it till I restart the app afresh.

How to reproduce

  • Am not sure how to get a post with metadata like the one broadcasted by Actifit, it has " enclosing the metadata.
"{"community":["actifit"],"step_count":["12000"],"activity_type":["Cycling, Daily Activity"],"tags":["mcyusuf","health","fitness","cycling","actifit"],"heightUnit":["cm"],"weightUnit":["kg"],"chestUnit":["cm"],"waistUnit":["cm"],"thighsUnit":["cm"],"image":["https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQma3XriZxvHMWep4xjALkgQ1foWoQf24Ksq24FyrkRMcH3/A-4.I.png"],"appType":"","actiCrVal":"5310f62f01b497b52017269777384951ebe27ecbcaa3f9859c06af05626b9352c91d171d947260330a21b2acf2f85367","app":"actifit/v0.3.1"}"
  • Open steeditor and locate the post.
  • Click the edit icon and notice the bug.

Thanks for your contribution.

It's great to see that this was reported on GitHub and the project owner has placed a pull request against this issue.

The steps didn't really guide you through step by step of how to reproduce and jumped straight into JSON metadata, it would have been better to discuss where in the application you should go and then mention when editing an Actifit post.

With your expected behavior, you have discussed that there shouldn't be issues with posts due to the JSON metadata, this isn't really how you would write expected behavior. You would more look at how the application itself should behave and from there you should mention potentially causes of the issue in either its own section or within the actual behavior.

Although the issue will not affect a large majority of users due to many users not needing to edit their Actifit posts, I have scored this as minor as this could easily happen on future Steem applications and become more of an issue.

Some of the language used in this post could have been made more formal which would have given this contribution and more professional feel.

With all of that said, I think it's important to note that it's great to see your issue has provided value to the project, I hope my feedback will help you to provide even more value in the future.

Once again, thanks for your contribution and I look forward to your next.
