Utopian Visibility Whitelist

Introduction

My name is Ebixy Ebi Laffin and I have a page on Facebook where I promote open source applications.

Over the last 100 years, education and learning processes have evolved. There is a constant need to improve curriculum and methods. Moodle does that, it is a learning management system that enables you to create a learning environment that suits you. It can be used for kids starting school up to university level.

Campaign Strategy

Education in Africa has improved over the years, But it is still lagging when compared to other continents.

I choose to promote Moodle to Nigeria, a country which has the enabling conditions for Moodle to work. These conditions include cheap internet service, computer literacy and internet penetration of more than 50%, an internet growth of about 49% (2000 - 2017) and a large education population (teachers and students) aged 14 - 54 that makes up about 51% of the total population.

In terms of educational standard, Nigeria ranks at 147th globally. The best university in Nigeria is ranked 1,076th in the world. Considering the factors above, there is a need to improve teaching methodologies and Moodle can be of help.

Bidding strategy
I choose the Cost Per Click (CPC) bidding strategy with the aim of having link clicks.

My initial budget was $15 and my bid was $0.04. After two days the ad was not performing well, I increased my budget by $7 and extended the ad by another two days. I also increase my bid to $0.06

Hi,

I liked your reasoning for picking Nigeria. It was clear and on point.

However, I have a strong issue with the ad's targeting and copy. My partner is a teacher, and she uses Moodle in several of the places where she works. It is very much a tool for teachers and for educational institutes. This is a project where students are strictly end users. The folks to target in a project such as this are primarily education administrators, with teachers as a secondary audience. Adding students certainly increases your pool of potential clicks, but none of those is likely to translate to any action post click.

One you target students, the copy becomes problematic, because of the use of the word "learning," rather than "teaching." I know Moodle uses this word as well in their own copy, but when you're explicitly targeting educators ("Moodle is a free, online Learning Management system enabling educators to create their own private website filled with dynamic courses that extend learning, any time, anywhere."), that's okay.

I've written to you before about the importance of researching the projects you're promoting, and this is a prime example of that. Knowing exactly what the the project is, and what the target audience for it is, will allow you to create ads that generate engagement after the original ad click. And while ad clicks are the measure we have, that engagement is what we're trying to foster.
