Do I need to invest money to reward my contributors?

Currently, Utopian rewards all contributions made on the platform that are approved by moderators. In the near future however, project owners will have the choice to have sponsors allocate a specific amount of voting power to their projects. As sponsors delegate Steem Power, they will be presented with the chance to specify how they want their voting power to be distributed amongst the various open source projects.

As project owners, it will your responsibility to enlist sponsors to your project, either internally (those already on Utopian) or by finding sponsors who will purchase Steem Power and delegate it to your project directly. There will be default rewards however, as explained below.

Default voting rewards

Even if they don't have any sponsors who specify Steem Power allocations, all contributions can be rewarded through Utopian's default voting system, which votes for all accepted contributions belonging to projects that have not been allocated voting power. However, these cannot be guaranteed to be high and may not be enough to support your project to the fullest.

I added the following text to reflect the new feature that allows Moderators to edit posts on behalf of contributors.

Moderators may also make changes to your contribution themselves, under the following circumstances:

• Wrong category: you placed your contribution in the wrong category
• Wrong GitHub repository: you chose an incorrect GitHub repository for your contribution
• Irrelevant or unsuitable tags: you used tags that don't work well with your contribution

New content for "About managing projects" section of the Knowledge Base

Project owners can use Utopian to rapidly increase contributions and to give their projects more visibility in the vast Open Source world.

Utopian is still in beta, and at present, to have your project show up on Utopian and get the attention of contributors, you'll need to create task requests for your project. In the near future, a more streamlined process will be available that allows project owners to create an entry for their projects in the Utopian database, including all the metadata associated with it. A promotion system is also in the pipeline, and it will allow project owners to promote their projects to potential sponsors and contributors. These features, coupled with task requests, will give project owners powerful tools to communicate with and enlist contributors.

To start the process of getting your projects on Utopian, follow the guidelines in the Project Owners Quick Start Guide.

Task requests can be made to acquire contributions in the following categories:

• Thinkers
• Developers
• Bug Hunters
• Translators
• Designers
• Tech Writers
• Data Analysts
• Influencers

More categories may be added. If you have a category that you would like to see featured then feel free to contact the Utopian moderators on Discord.
