Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside the browser.

Node.js brings event-driven programming to web servers, enabling development of fast web servers in JavaScript. Developers can create highly scalable servers without using threading, by using a simplified model of event-driven programming that uses callbacks to signal the completion of a task. Node.js connects the ease of a scripting language (JavaScript) with the power of Unix network programming.

Contribution Specifications

Node.js is currently being translated into 33 languages. I´m contributing to making this project accessible to the Spanish speaking community online.

6% of the Node.js project has been translated into Spanish, which may not sound like a lot, but that 6% actually amounts to 67,000+ translated words! So it has been quite a success so far for me and the Spanish Team at Utopian in regards to the progress in this project!

Translation Overview

The terminology of the text translated is mostly related to computer science and programming.

In this part of my contribution for Node.js, I finished translating the async_hooks.md folder (900 words approximately), as shown in the following image:

Disclaimer: the remaining 1031 words that were not translated are code string, which are not meant to be translated.

Also, in this part of my contribution I translated a little chunk of 100 words on the http.md folder:

In this contribution, I translated an approximate amount of 1000 clean words on async_hooks.md and http.md combined.

These are the concepts and words I've learned so far while working on Node.js:

Callback, Addon, Compile, Array, POSIX, Hook, Instance, API, Resource, Promise, Embedder, Exception, Stream, String, Method, Class, Recursion, Handler, Listener, Padding, Flag, Integer, Appending, Polling, Timestamp, Truncation, Kernel, Symbolic Link, Unix Epoch Time.

These are the concepts I learned while working on this contribution for Node.js:

1 . Debugging

Debugging is the process of finding and resolving defects or problems within a computer program that prevent correct operation of computer software or a system.

Taken from:

2 . Stack

In programming, a special type of data structure in which items are removed in the reverse order from that in which they are added, so the most recently added item is the first one removed. This is also called last-in, first-out (LIFO).
Adding an item to a stack is called pushing. Removing an item from a stack is called popping.

Languages

The project's source language is English and it was translated into Spanish.

Besides collaborating as a translator for Open Source Projects on Crowdin I also work as a Freelance Translator for a law firm in the US, I've been working for that company for 9 months, translating sworn statements and legal documents from English to Spanish and viceversa.

Open Source Projects I've worked on and contributed as a translator:

1 . Verdaccio

2 . OroCRM

3 . BiglyBT

4 . The Curious Expedition.

5 . Node.js
