View this post on Hive: Ginabot notifications for transfers of STEEM as Power

In March 2020, many Steem users, including @dhimmel, migrated to the Hive blockchain in response to the hostile takeover of Steem. Please use the Hive link when sharing this post and comment on the Hive version to get in touch.

@ginabot by @neander-squirrel is a great notification service for Steem. However, it seems to not notify users of transfers of STEEM Power. Therefore, if a user sends you STEEM that's already powered up, @ginabot doesn't send a notification.

I've cross-posted this issue to what appears to be the ginabot GitHub repo. Copied below:

It seems that ginabot does not notify users when they receive a transfer of Steem in the form of Power.

Under the transfer menu, it says:

Activate this if you are interested in incoming or outcoming coin transfers. Self means you send coins, others when somebody else sends SBD or STEEM to your wallet.

It seems that others should include if someone sends you powered up Steem.

Yes this would be good to have. I don't think that's an active github repo since it doesn't have any of the code in it and hasn't been touched for 5 months, but i'll PM @neander-squirrel and let him know about this!

For those who are wondering exactly how to transfer STEEM as Power, see the steemit.com interface:

power-up.png

This menu pops up from the "Power Up" option under "Advanced". Essentially you are powering up STEEM, but to an account other than your own, thereby transferring ownership of the token.

Here's an example transaction of this sort: ff64f309f90d8d169ac2a3add9d6c72708410e3f. It looks like the underlying function is transfer_to_vesting.

Got it. The policy makes sense to ensure that contributions are to open source projects.

@neander-squirrel, have you considered making @ginabot open source? It'd be great to be able to support its development through @utopian-io.
