A. Introduction

Indeed, there are some platforms or projects ready to move to the highest levels of productivity and acceptability amongst its users and community members, as well as potential new members. These projects are currently in the works, being worked upon by team members to ensure that their various platforms provide only the best form of convenience to their users. When you talk about such projects without mentioning Actifit, then your list is incomplete.

In this post, I will talk about a number of updates, changes and features recently implemented on some of the Actifit platforms, especially the Actifit.io website. In details, I would explain what these features are, what they portend for users and their benefits. Sit tight and enjoy the jolly good ride.

B. The Actifit Project

Actifit remains one of the most exciting platforms on the Steem blockchain. It is a platform where everyone is welcome, no matter the skills you have and what you know. You do not even need to be highly educated before you can use Actifit. In the light of that, what then is Actifit?

Actifit as the name suggests, is all about Activity and Fitness. It is a proof of activity based concept where users like you and I are rewarded financially for engaging in activities that help us maintain a healthy and rewarding lifestyle. These financial rewards come in two major forms.

The first is an upvote from the official account of the Actifit project on your daily Actifit project. This upvote is dependent on your user rank which takes several factors into cognizance. Some of these factors include the amount of delegation to Actifit from the user, accumulated AFIT tokens, rewarded post count & recently rewarded activity. At the payout of the upvote on the post which takes 7 days from the time of posting, the user receives the rewards in two parts. A part of it comes in SBD & part in Steem Power, or everything in Steem Power depending on his choice when making the post. The other form of financial reward comes in AFIT tokens. These tokens are rewarded to users depending on their activity count for the day. The higher your activity count is, the higher the amount of AFIT tokens you will receive.

The Actifit project currently has three platforms via which users can access and make posts from. There’s the Actifit Android app, the iOS version and then there’s also the Actifit.io website. Through the website, users can view posts, upvote them and carry out other activities. In this post, we will focus mainly on the Actifit website and the recent features and changes implemented on this platform.

C. New Features and Changes

Let’s now look at some of the recent features or changes implemented on the Actifit.io website.

1. Automated Account Claims

In a previous post, I spoke extensively about the Velocity Hard Fork 20 and some of its expected benefits. One of such benefits I remember mentioning was the ability to claim and create new Steem accounts depending on the amount of RCs you have. This is a style of discounted account creation as there would be no need to wait for so long to get the account’s password, to delegate, or even pay Steem to get the account created.

Actifit, proactive as always , is already planning ahead of time as they ready the codes for their own interface for new account signups. To ensure that it runs smoothly when it goes live, Actifit has created an automated script. What this does is that it claims free accounts for Actifit. The essence of this is that the number of accounts held by Actifit continues to increase until the time when their signup interface is ready. So far, Actifit has already claimed more than 100 accounts and is set to continue till when the ongoing signup page is ready.

This sign up portends a bright future for Actifit and the Steem ecosystem as well. This is because when potential members do not have to wait for ages before they can start using their accounts, the retention rate of these new members increases. The Actifit community also increases, as well as the overall uses of the Steem blockchain. I believe this would also impact on the price of Steem and that of the AFIT tokens.

2. The New Image Hosting Feature

A platform without an image upload feature is incomplete. This is because as the saying goes, a picture speaks more than a thousand words. Before now, the Actifit platforms had its users solely depend on the Steemit platform for appending their pictures to their daily report cards and uploading them to the blockchain. That is, users would make their daily report and post through the app, either iOS or the Android app. Once the post appeared on the blockchain, the user now goes to Steemit or Busy to edit it and add the necessary pictures.

However with this new update, Actifit has now implemented the image upload functionality on its website platform. Actifit’s website, Actifit.io has been updated with this feature to allow users upload and edit their pictures through the website. This now serves as an alternative or eliminates the need to edit it through Steemit or Busy. All you need to do is to log into your account via the website. Click on the "Activity" link and access your report card post you wish to edit. You'd see the edit button which when you click on it, you will be able to view the "upload images" option below, just above the tags section.

The images chosen from your gallery automatically gets uploaded to the servers of the Actifit project. A markdown link is then generated and embedded in the text content section. This link points to the picture uploaded. It can be used on any other platform without having to re-upload the picture for a second time.

3. Upvote Weight Button Changes

One very important feature for dApps on the Steem blockchain is the upvote capability. Users love it when they can access their favorite dApp and upvote posts on the go without having to use other platforms. That is why Actifit did not take too long after the launch of its website to implement the upvote feature. However, allowing users upvote posts of their choice is not enough.

Some members of the Steem blockchain have a lot of Steem power and their 100% upvote could be worth more than what they feel a post truly worth. So to minimize or reduce their voting strength, the voting slider is a necessity. To this effect, Actifit previously introduced a voting slider to allow users either increase or decrease their voting weight. There were the buttons +10, +1, -10, -1 for users to click on until they get their desired upvote percentage.

As at then, it was a quite stressful way of reducing or increasing the weight of your upvote. However, to make life easy, Actifit has now implemented an important change to the voting slider. Now, instead of just those custom value buttons previously there, users now have the opportunity to simply edit the existing upvote value and input their preferred upvote percentage. You no longer need to click a button severally before you can get your desired upvote value. Just simply clear out the custom value, input yours and upvote the post you wish to.

D. Latest Version Required

One of Actifit's mission is to ensure that spammers and abusers are rid off its platforms, and that new ones never find a way to any of its platforms. In the light of that, new updates are regularly sent out to ensure that loopholes in the system are blocked and abuse is reduced. Now, this would be a waste of time if some members are using the new update and a number of other users are stuck with the old app.

As such, to curb the use of the older versions to abuse and game the system, Actifit has dropped support for those versions of the app. Thus, to be able to continue using your favorite dApp, you need to upgrade to the latest version of the Actifit application. Simply head over to your play store app, search for Actifit and update your app. Quite simple right? I hope you enjoy using the new app version.
