dPoll is a decentralized poll application that is built on the Steem blockchain. dPoll permits users to get opinions and suggestions from other users as well as communities to get feedback from their users. dPoll was founded by @emrebeyler and it came to the spotlight in November 2018.

How to Get Started with dPoll

• To get started with dPoll, one needs a steem account. you can get one by signing up steemit.com or you can get a steem account instantly at Steem Ninja

• Next, visit the dPoll official website: https://dpoll.xyz/

• Click on the login icon that appears at the top right hand corner of your screen.

• Login by authorizing steemconnect. steemconnect is a very secured and safe login client on the Steem blockchain.

How to make a Poll

Once logged in, one can create a poll as follows;

• Click on Create Poll at the top right hand corner of your screen.

• A text editor will appear as below;

• Question: Fill in your question.

• Description: you could say something about your question.

• Answers: Suggest possible answers to your questions and click on more answer in case you want to provide more than two answers.

• Tags: fill in the necessary tags that suit your question.

• Expire at: This refer to how long the poll will be open to votes. Currently, dpoll provides two options; 1 week and 1 month.

• Reward: Set the reward type for your poll, be it 50% SBD/ 50% SP or Power Up 100% or Decline Payout.

• Allow multiple choice selection: Click on this option to permit users to vote on two or more answers.

• Submit: Click on submit to publish your poll.

How to vote on polls at dPoll

You can vote on any poll following these steps;

• Select a poll from the menu by clicking on it. Read through the description (if any) and the answers.

• Select your best answer(s).

• Finally, click on vote to register your vote on the poll.

Main Components of dPoll

dPoll is composed of many features, placed under different categories.

A. The left hand corner of the top bar.

• Promoted: displays polls that have been promoted. To promote a poll, simply send any amount of Steem or SBD to @dpoll.promotion

• Trending: display unexpired polls (polls that are still opened to votes) with the most number of votes.

• New: displays the most recent polls.

**B. The right hand corner of the top bar.

• Create Poll: Get started with creating a poll as described above.

• Click on your user Profile and a poll down menu will appear;

• Profile: See your recent polls as well as statistics of your total number of polls and votes.

• Logout: Click to logout of your session.

C. The Promoted Poll bar

It appears on the top left hand corner and beneath the top bar. It shows the top promoted and unexpired poll.

D. The Polls Bar

It appears center to the left hand corner and displays the top ten most recently created polls on the homepage.

E. The Statistic Menu

This menu has three bars;

• General Stats: It displays three important statistics which are; the total number polls ever created at dpoll, the number of votes made and the number of dpoll users.

• Top dPollers: It shows the all time top five dpoll users by number of polls created.

• Top voters: It shows the all time top five poll voters.

F. The Bottom Menu.

This menu is composed of the sponsors, team, discord server and github repository.

• Sponsors: It shows a list of all those supporting dPoll with Steem Power delegations.

• Team: It shows dpoll team members or those working on the dpoll project.

• Discord Server: This is simply an invite link to the official dpoll discord server.

• Github Repository: The github repository is basically where we can track the development of dpoll and provide suggestions or complaints.

Key Features of dPoll

• Account Based vs Stake Based: Voting results can be displayed according to the total number of voters (account base) or the total stake owned by voters (stake base).

• View in Steemit: This feature allows users to view the polls on Steemit and other interfaces on Steem.

• Filters: dPoll has deployed filters with which voters can be screened based on specified conditions.

• Audit: This feature provides details of votes made on a particular poll. It serves a purpose of transparency in voting results.

4. Make it possible for polls to be shared directly on social media.

Conclusion

dPoll is an amazing application with a simple and beautiful interface. Moreover, I love the idea of creating and voting on polls as this has proven to be a great way of achieving engagement on the Steem blockchain. I believe that with the right updates and strategy, dPoll can become the leading dApp on Steem.
