Bușteni – The gate of Bucegi/Romania

Located in the eastern extremity of the Southern Carpathians, in the middle of the country, Bușteni is an ideal place to go to Bucegi Mountain for hiking, mountaineering and rest.
The Buşteni climate resort offers, at any season, optimum conditions for holiday, weekends, in a beautiful mountain setting.
Surrounded by the Caraiman Mountains (2384 m) and the Coştila (2489 m), crossed by the Prahova River, the resort is distinguished by its picturesque surroundings and its surroundings, as well as the possibilities for practicing various forms of tourism: hiking, mountaineering, practicing winter sports, hut tours, etc.
The minimum altitude (at the railway station) is 882 m and maximum (at the last house on Matei Basarab Street) of 980 m.
Distance to Bucharest, DN1 (E15) and rail = 129 Km; to Brasov on DN1 (E15) and on Bucharest - Brasov railway = 37 Km. The northern limit of the village is located around the 133 km - where the tunnel is cut in the spur of Muchia Lungă, and the southern one near the town of Sinaia, at kilometer 126, at the point called Vadul Cerbului or Gura Pădurii.
In the resort there is a cable car, which goes up to Hotel Silva up to Bucegi Plateau, next to Babele Chalet; the cabin route has a length of 4350 m and a difference of 1235 m.
Also in the resort there is the Kalinderu ski area and next to it a Snow Park.
Due to its location, Bușteni resort is the best location for walking the routes from the Bucegi Mountains. Numerous routes of varying degrees of difficulty start here; most trails from the steep east coast are closed in winter but access to the plateau can be done by cable car.
Also here in Busteni is the "Caraiman Cross", raised at an altitude of 2291 m in 1928, was the highest metal structure in a mountainous area. Over time, the image of this unique monument in Europe through location and dimension has become extremely well known. But the history of the "Cross" is not so clear, many of which are still under question.
