We’re upcycling textile waste to produce Dolls – @Ecodesigns textile upcycled product of the Week
Every week, we profile one of our textile recycled products. Dolls are our textile upcycled product of the week.
Why make Dolls?
- Almost every dolls in the Cameroonian market is imported and this is not doing any good to our economy.
- The imported dolls are mostly made from plastic and when they get bad, they contribute to plastic pollution.
- The imported dolls are very expensive and as such, most families can’t afford to purchase dolls for their kids.
The @ecodesigns textile dolls
At @ecodesigns, we are crafting simple and beautiful dolls from textile waste and giving children the joy and fun of having toys to play with. Our dolls are stuffed with textile offcuts, hence contribute in keeping textile waste out of the environment. As compared to imported plastic dolls that sell at $5 and above, our dolls cost $2 and are recyclable.
When we sell our dolls, we ask our clients to bring them back to us in case they get torn or in case they no longer like it so that we can mend it or repurpose it to always look great. With our @ecodesigns dolls, we are putting on smiles on the faces of children.
That's a nice picture of the kid with her doll. The western world's so damned materialistic yet this pic reminds us a little girl's doll hardly has to be perfect to be precious to someone. She'll probably treasure it all the same.
Keep up your good work. :)
Thanks very much and the kids really treasure their dolls. It suffices for people to focus on acquiring what they need and not what their greed needs. Its time we start cutting off from the materialistic world in a bid to build a more sustainable world.
I like your project
I am one of the people who love fashion design, but in a very different sense to what is seen today, in a less guided to cosmo, I believe in the recycling of clothes! Many of the pieces that are in my closet are pieces made by me with clothes from my aunts or my grandmother from when I was young, in fact my last post is guided the redesign of a piece that had been given to me, people always ask me where I buy my clothes, and it gives me a lot of laughter because they can not imagine where my clothes come from, having fashion sense does not mean spending money or having brand clothes, it's just discovering which style you identify with and having a lot of creativity !!!
I would like to start a clothing recycling project in my country, people like you inspire me, today the economic situation in my country has changed a lot and a project like this I think could help many people!
I'm going to start following you
I wish you much success
and may GOD continue to bless you
a thousand Kisses
